. . . what's a guy suposed to do?
Moderate your language in the Thief forums? The games are played by all ages. I, for one, would appreciate it. I buy most dvds, videos and games, second-hand. I haven't had a dud yet. And if you buy through a reputable site, there's always a money-back guarantee. In fact, I got my money back on something a couple of weeks ago, although it wasn't because it was a dud.

I wish gaming industry would be as developed here as it is wherever you are.
I'm sorry if my rant offended people because of the use of some words, but I can't think of better descriptions to substitute them.

I'm not offended and I do understand frustration - for my sins, I swear all the time when I'm feeling a tad angry. But it's kind of nice that Thief is generally swear-word-free - it makes a pleasant change, and as I said, it's played by all ages.
I'm in the UK. And buying second-hand is relatively pain-free.

The guy does have a point though, most games in some countries are far too expensive. But Xenith, if you can - please edit your post to remove the obvious. I know that sounds a bit old git of me, but the thief sections of this forum are one of the few places on the net thats still polite..

You're right about that, it is a pleasent change. I supose anger got the best of me. Anyway...
A couple of people that I know made some purchases online. Some even have Steam. I supose it would actually be more worth it, but they still had to pay some other fines (put there by our people, not Steams) which is very sad. There's also the option of buying games from sites, but then the shipping fee would add up and... well you're not getting anywhere.
Edited the post.

I honestly don't care about the piracy issue, but since I buy only an average of two games a year, I'll happily pay.
My Sold Out Software copy of Thief I & II doesn't need the disk to run. It's currently £4.25 at amazon.co.uk for those interested. :)

Xenith: you don't need games to live. They're pretty much a luxury product. Hence the sports car mentioned.
How do legit games feel better than pirated ones?
It feels good to unwrap the foil from the box, browse through the manual, cheap as it is, breathe in the print fumes. Same with music - it feels better listening to it reading the lyrics from the booklet, the notes...
It feels good to know that I'm playing this great game I bought, hence in some way possibly contributing to the developer's next project.
It actually feels good to spend the money I earned on something I like, my hobby.

Well I'm sorry, but I don't share the same enthusiasm when opening a 100 dollar box only for the sake of "feeling" that it's original. I guess this is where the difference of opinion comes in. And no I don't need them to live, but ever wonder how it is going to a gaming site and you actually have very little idea of what everyone around you is talking about because... you know... you only played one game in two months. I don't think you can participate in more than one or two topics from the hundreds of them.

I don't have to wonder. That's pretty much how I roll these days. And I'm completely fine with it.

Well, hate me as much as you want. I prefer to stay informed and up close with most of the stuff that comes out. Like I said, difference of opinion (and need probably).
