Nine dead Brazilians can't be wrong.
N'Al on 24/6/2014 at 20:43
No one said so.
SD on 24/6/2014 at 20:49
I guess I must have missed SubJeff's outrage when Brazilian workers died building the stadia these matches are being played in. Either that, or there was no bandwagon for him to jump on.
Just confirming this is a scummy British media thing, Italian TV coverage has made mention of the alleged bite, but they're more concerned about the red card and the exit from the World Cup than any hysterical nonsense.
Alan Shearer on the BBC, a man who kicked another player in the head, is currently calling Suarez fit to burn, which pretty much sums it up.
Renault on 24/6/2014 at 20:53
You know, just because someone gets upset at one individual incident - but not thousands of others that are far worse - doesn't necessarily mean that they're saying those other events are "okay." There's only so much time in the day.
N'Al on 24/6/2014 at 21:04
It's not even a case of 'so much time in the day'. Using any one of these incidents in an attempt to negate or diminish another is just idiotic, plain and simple.
What's next? I claim that people are being hysterical over 9 dead Brazilians because Harold Shipman killed 250 people?
Fact is, Suarez bit another player during a football match, and not for the first time. This is a bad thing.
9 dead Brazilians is a bad thing.
250 people killed by Harold Shipman is a bad thing.
Alan Shearer kicking someone in the head is a bad thing.
Neither one of these events means any of the other is ok.
SD, if you want to discuss the hysteria of the (British) press, by all means do so. Heck, I'll even agree on this with you. But don't pretend Suarez isn't anything but an idiot, no matter how great his actual footballing skills are.
SubJeff on 24/6/2014 at 22:37
Err, what's all this?
This is a thread about the World Cup competition, no? About the matches.
If you want talk about the ancillary problems such as construction deaths, the injustice of forcing people out their homes, the Qatar nonsense (or Russian for that matter!) there is a thread for that.
SD's strawman arguments are the same as always.

QFT.
That was what my jibe was about.

Well I think SubJeff can be confusing sometimes. Didn't he intimate that he was SD once, in the T4 forum? :)
Ha ha. Yes. It was a joke from the old irc chat, that all those years arguing had been one long joke.
Scots Taffer on 25/6/2014 at 14:55
SD, I cannot honestly believe a man of your age and apparent intellect, at least to be able to string together sentences, can actually believe in such a grossly false equivalency as the one you've drawn between a footballer paid millions to be on the world stage biting a fellow player in a contest at the highest level of the sport held only once every four years to the idolatry of hundreds of millions of people to the near anonymous deaths of nine labourers in uncontrolled conditions in a practically third world nation.
You can't be that fucktarded.
edit: that be a fucked sentence though, ain't no mistake.
