I don't get how patronisingly pulling back your game to go easy on your opponents is the same thing as respecting them. If Brazil were caned by 7 goals to 1, then it's pretty clear that maybe they weren't cut out to make it to the semis and perhaps got there by luck. Germany did what they were there to do - win the game and score as many goals as possible. The only call for sportsmanship would be if Germany were somehow doing that unfairly, but the reality is that they were by far the better team on the pitch.

I just can't understand why everybody is so enthousiastic about Van Persie. I never watch football during the regular year. Not even 2 minutes. I only watch Eurocups and Worldcups.
That's probably why. From what my commentators told he was the most richly scoring holland player in the last season or something like that.
That's great, I was thinknig just the same thing when I saw the match.

My condolences.
When I was flying in it was darkly overcast, rainy, cold, the skyline was full of smokestacks belting steam into the low grey clouds, and around us swarmed lonely trucks barrelling through weary pines. I had to smile it was so dreary and German, exactly as I imagined it. ;)

I was in Berlin a few weeks ago and it was sunny and nice and very hip and cool. I saw Soundgarden and Black Sabbath, ate good food, drank nice beers. Was nice. I liked.

Thoroughly sensible analysis, I thought.

I've heard Berlin is today's NYC of Europe. I intend to visit when I'm back in Europe in September.
That GoT pic above is way too much.
Thor on 12/7/2014 at 22:11
Why is that GoT pic too much? Ofcourse that Oberyn Martell bit was the stupidest thing that has ever happened to anyone in fiction, but Brazil's loss to Germany was also like the crappiest thing that has happened to Brazilians in their entire football history. The rape...
They were lightly raped again, even tho they played better. Holland VS Germany really was the finale that was supposed to happen. But alas...
Argentina can't have FOUR strokes of dull luck. I swear they were lucky they even beat swiss folks... belgians too. Iran too... (not to mention Netherlands). Without Messi they wouldn't have gotten past the elimination games.
And Dirk Kuijt has become one of my favorite footballers I've seen. Awesome dude, great player. I hope to see more of him, maybe even in the next World Cup if he'll still be up for it. Same for Van Persie, Robben.
Alright, here's hoping Deutschland puts Argentina's team in their place and destroy them. :p Kay, enough hating on Argentina for today.
P.S. Brazilians hope germans crush them as well.

Howard made more saves (15) in a World Cup match than anyone since records began

In addition, someone changed the US Secretary of Defence on Wikipedia to Tim Howard.
