Inane quote. Inane picture.

You believe what you want to. I can see you already do.

Here's where I just repost your own picture?

There is something ironic about perspective and opinions rooted in objective evidence?

England could still go through.
If Italy win their next two and England give Costa Rica a damn good thrashing, then England go through.
Yes. That is pretty optimistic. This is football, after all.
SubJeff on 19/6/2014 at 22:07
Meh. We're very, very unlikely to go through. Fair enough, we lost to better teams.
Re: Suarez - come on SD, you know you only excuse him because he plays for Liverpool. He's a horrible individual. Just look at what he did in the World Cup 2010. No sense of fair play either.

It's completely untrue. I defend him because so much of the criticism he gets is downright unfair, and I'll defend anyone who is being treated unfairly. Being a Liverpool fan just means I've taken more time to acquaint myself with the actual facts.
You should be very wary of hating people just because the media tells you to.

Suarez did what anybody would have done in the circumstances. Any professional footballer who claims he wouldn't handle a goalbound shot in the last minute of a World Cup quarter final is a liar.

Not a soccer fan, but I had to read up on this Suarez guy. The handball in 2010 is no big deal, professional athletes do that stuff all the time. In the NFL, if a defensive back is beat, he'll just tackle the receiver to prevent the touchdown, and then take penalty. There's the racist stuff, but that's hard to prove, maybe the two guys simply don't like each other. Seems he's also a diver - still no big deal, guys "flop" (fake fouls) in the NBA all the time. All these things together might make the guy a questionable sportsman, but you could also argue that he's just being competitive.
But he's bitten people, during matches, multiple times. I don't see how anyone can justify that by saying "well, he didn't break the skin." That's crazy.
But hey, he's a good player, right? :p

The racism allegations hold no water when you look at them in any detail. It would be laughable if it wasn't such a grave injustice. Suarez himself is a cuarterón.
Nobody's justifying biting, just putting it into perspective. Would you rather suffer a minor bite or a broken bone? It's no contest, surely.
Another player, Jermaine Defoe, bit an opponent in identical circumstances. There was no ban, no media condemnation. Hardly anybody even remembers it.
You would think Suarez stomped on kittens the way some people go on.
Bear in mind the way our media fawns over players like Ryan Giggs, a serial adulterer who slept with his own brother's wife and tried to use the legal system to stifle press freedom, and it's even harder to understand the hatred directed at a man who, away from football, is a quiet, pleasant family man.
And, incidentally, Luis has been good as gold on the field this season. He's obviously learned that you can still have a child's enthusiasm for the sport without behaving like a child on the pitch. It's just growing up.
