Old, but nice screenies there.
I think 10 years ago i would be suprised by such good graphics. Alot better then Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, i think. Probably because Thief hardly needs better graphics then the 1st and 2nd have. 3rd Thief shouldn't have had such graphics... Those grapihcs would fit better for Thief IV.
Why did i started to speak about graphics? Uhh...

You can still see that mansion entrance in the Bafford briefing, although it was changed in the actual mission. One of the last shots depicts a part of assassins that was revamped for the game; in this particular case, I think the original is somehow cooler. It also features in a video that was released a few months before the game was out... when the pieces were already falling in place, and Thief was the game as we know it. :)
And this all brings back memories of playing without 3d acceleration. I only brought my first card to be able to play Thief2.

When did AI start jumping over chasms? o.O
Or do they mean that walk on air trick they do sometimes? :laff:

Haha! Yeah. Actually, don't you mean when did AI stop jumping over chasms? :cheeky:
In that PC Gamer video, Greg LoPiccolo talked about the intuitive environments with cold and heat freezing and burning. I wonder if they ever got it working even a little bit. I wonder where the freezing was supposed to come from? Was it like T2X's ice arrows, or were the early water arrows actually ice arrows, and are the TDS water crystals a reference?
We may never know.

Lol, oh that ones easy. They stop jumping over chasms whenever someone plays the game. One of those "shh, stop doing that Benny, the player is watching" kind of things I guess.
Seriously though, cold freezes water? Is there a cold stim/receptron?

Oh, if only there was some early rough gameplay footage of these things in action.

Maybe it was implemented at the Mage Tower´s mission. At the Fire Tower, with the heated tiles that you can cool down for a short time if you use a water arrow.
Nothing very complex but it was there...
