Sounded great until I got to this part:

This project is on hold until further notice. There is also no documentation with this project because I have never been bothered to write one, so I am hoping you already know how to play this game.

Regardless, I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at, considering about a third of your games are on consoles anyways, and more than half are outside your geographic "only hope for PC games".
I was going to mention that Romance... is a console series but I figured I'd bite my tongue. That was a fantastic game on the NES.

It's not as simple as looking at the name on the box.
Maybe you should try getting the name on the box right first.

I like the Duke Nukem Forever trailer from 1998. The lighting and excessive uses of lens flares were amazing. I would be playing that version of the game right now if I could. Too bad that will never happen.

You know, I'm playing Myth 2 again now (after having played Myth 1) and I am reminded that it really just looks great. I have a soft spot for 2d sprites on 3d worlds but something about Myth just looks fantastic. I love the blood all over the ground after a big battle. The presentation is just wonderful. I am hardly aware it's a 15 year old game. In fact, I think I'm more impressed now than I was back then. Then again, I probably didn't have any sort of opengl card back then.

Also, I'm not very far into the campaign so I couldnt pick a cool battle or location or anything. And I couldn't get the damn dwarf to lob a grenade for the screeny, either. And then there's the Fetch's lighting bolt...
(Granted, this is at 1080p)

Yeah, thanks to your recent posts on this Alchemist, I installed Myth TFL again last night, and it does indeed look great for such an old game. Only thing is, it runs 4:3. Is there any way to run custom (16:10) resolutions with TFL, or is this restricted to Myth 2?
The Alchemist on 12/4/2010 at 23:15
I'm playing on OSX, and Myth 1 I have to play at 640x480, Myth 2 plays at 16:9 at 1080p, and I think there's no way around it. I thought there was a client that improved the graphical aspects of it, but I don't even know if that project is still around anymore. I seem to recall it being called Magma. I googled and this is what I found: (
http://projectmagma.net/) which might be Myth 2 only from what I'm reading, which would explain why my Myth 2 looks so good (torrent probably came with said client already built in).
I love Myth so much I honestly just dealt with it and played the entire first game at 640x480. And now I'm enjoying part 2 in all its 1080p glory.

Suppose I could mention one of my favorite lesser-known classic games again: Hardwar. (For that matter, I really liked the look of its spiritual predecessor SlipStream 5000, too).
One thing I liked about Hardwar's art direction is that, while every other scifi game (movie, show...) seemed to be going with the Geiger look (black, organic, sleek), Hardwar was inspired by Peter Elson (bright colors, industrial, massive), which made it stand out and gave it a consistent and evocative style which holds up today. (The Warp Records soundtrack holds up, too.) The FMVs are cool but sort of hokey and short on style, but that's a minor thing. Anyway, point is I still love playing and looking at this game today.

(
http://projectmagma.net/) Project Magma is still very much alive and their patches will update Myth 2 to work flawlessly on latest hardware and also includes detail texturing for Myth 2 campaign maps. They also converted all Myth TFL campaign maps to a (
http://projectmagma.net/downloads/TFL_Solo/) plugin you can use with Myth 2 so you should be able enjoy the first game in 1080p too :).
