Hot on the heels of LucasArts' release of part of its adventure-game back catalogue, ActivisionBlizzard have now released some of Sierra's old adventure games on Steam, more specifically the (

King's Quest and (

Space Quest Collections.
Here's hoping for Quest for Glory and Leisure Suit Larry.

“This item is currently unavailable in your region.” Australasia gets shafted again, FUCK.
I'd love to what cock blocking rights holder in Oz is behind this bullshit.

get someone to gift it to you.
EDIT: Someone who pays in US$. As us in euroland have the wonderful privilege of being charged more without reason.

Heck yeah! I already bought them on CD, but hopefully, like N'Al said, it'll bring in more later (The Incredible Machine comes to mind, and QFG and LSL as already mentioned).
But where's King's Quest VIII? Sure, it wasn't the best in the series, but I still want it to complete my collection.

As much as I love the Lucasarts games, I started my adventuring career when I got Space Quest 1 and 3 alongside Kings Quest 3 and 4 for my Atari ST one bright Christmas morning. I played it during that magical age when finding a new screen wasn't simply getting a bit farther in a game, but a momentous occasion of coming across something new and unexplored. When you're 11, playing these games actually felt like adventures.
Sigh...good times. I'll be picking these up after I grab the MI remake.

I still have those sensations with good games. another setpiece, a new character, a unexpected cutscene.......all can delight me in ways only games can. Certainly more factors have come into play like my state of mind, the time of day :) but now and then I get those goosebump inducing sensations of discovering or mastering something new or classic, damn well presented and told. Main reason to play games for me (contrary to the belief that I play games to get frustrated)
last mind-boggling and eye-straining sensation for me were the levels of TRINE. classic, tried and tested (it's fantasy !) it had a impecable artistic vision that burned through my eyes, every new screen being eagerly waited.
Same goes for Zeno Clash. The loading screen between Chapter1 and Chapter2 in TheWitcher was the most exciting thing back then when I played it the first time (just defeated the beast, new location is coming up), encountering my first bloodsucker in STALKER............all leading back to....
e.g. Lucas Arts, doing my first trench run in RebelAssault or playing the first tunes in LOOM....

(
http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/697997/LucasArts-Teasing-X-Wing-Tie-Fighter-Announcement.html) RUMOUR: X-Wing and TIE Fighter coming.
I'd be happy for straight ports, rather than the "Special Edition remake" treatment. Cause ya know, remakes would likely be multi-platform, that works for point-and-click adventure games like Monkey Island but definitely not with Flight Sims like these. (I.e. turn it into consolised arcadey shit to accommodate the lack of buttons on 360 controllers.)

Nice.
I highly doubt the games are going to be remade, but seeing as how MI got the Special Edition treatment, you never know.

I wandered into the Steam forums for the Space Quest release and found some rather unhappy folks. Apparently the release doesn't work very well.

(

Hopefully they've tested it properly on modern hardware and OSes. A few people that I know have had trouble running this properly on their newish rigs.
