In the same situation, I played through the recently-released Policenauts translation. Flawed, to be sure, but good fun and friendly to start-and-stop gameplay.

Go Go Ackman was pretty damn good as well as far as platformers go for the snes. Requires a translation patch to be read in english. Damn funny game.

I haven't tried any Genesis emulators in years but Road Rash 2 is always fun. It's like a Roguelike; losing is part of the fun. I never got tired of whipping guys off of their bikes with a chain and then slamming into a small post at 80 miles per hour sending my guy flying through the air for about seven seconds.

I was going to mention a Road Rash game but thought it might be too minor for a mention; but it's honestly my favorite Genesis game along with the one I mentioned. I'd just add that Road Rash 3 is my favorite in the series, if I were going to recommend one.

How about some suggestions that don't involve out-right piracy? The 2nd paragraph of Volitions Advocate's post has like been the only one.
The current mindset around the internet seems to be that ROMs are only illegal if you don't own an original copy of the game, and then only if you don't delete the ROM after 24 hours. Is there a legal basis for this or is it just the unwritten rule? The way it's tossed around would make it seem like the former, but I don't know.

There is no legal basis. It's just an unwritten "rule" that's been around as long as I can remember, and emulation was one of the first things I looked into when I first got the internet back in 1999.
I still remember when SNES emulators ran in DOS and didn't do transparencies correctly.

And then there's the time when my Pentium couldn't handle 2xSai for Chrono Trigger and I nearly cried, until I turned on interpolation and it looked better. Well, in my head, anyway. Ah, after school play sessions. Glory days.

SHADOWRUN. Great snes game.
If you're going for this one, make sure you grab a guide off of gamefaqs before you leave..
