Unless in T1 only the first page of any book was meant to be read, then I am missing anything past that point in every book. I am on 'Revisited', and there seems to be a lack of clues about what to do next.
One of the corpses is Brother, er, Renault? and he is supposed to have found a new way to smith items with a blessing (prolly using the rosary) ... but the book (if I remember rightly atm) in the attic room where his body is (again, if I remember rightly) has little information as to how to proceed. I think I have found just about everything - can't get to the upper room in the library yet though - and it seems that the first pages of each book end mid-sentence. I'm partly stuck as to what to do next, although I'm in the middle of moving the two Brother's corpses into their respective graves ... but there are not clues (yet) indicating what will happen when I do this or what would need to be done as a secondary step.
Can someone either tell me if there are more pages that I should be able to read in each book and if so how to fix the issue, or if only first pages are readable. The scrolls and papers can be 'turned' without problems, it's just the books I think there's a problem with.
I did search the forums, but either couldn't hit the magic phrasing or any anwer I stumbled across was buried in a lengthy list of threads returned and I missed it being mentioned in the titles.
Thanks.

Is it the note to Kindle? There's only one page, and if you read Brother Renault's name in that text, it implied you should go to the Observatory, St. Jenel's. :) There is a book in the Observatory, with text written by Brother Renault, and it has two pages.
If the first pages of each book seem to end in mid-sentence, I don't know what would cause that. Only two of the texts for that mission have more than one page, and if any text has more than one page, you should see that at least one of the lower corners of the page is turned up.

If the text for a book is too long to fit on the single screen, it will get truncated unless the creator of the text intentionally splits it onto a second page, i.e., the book feature doesn't automatically wrap text across pages. I'd be shocked if any OM texts did that since it would mean it got past LGS in testing, but it's possible.

I guess I'd have to see an example. I've never seen a bad text in-game, but maybe there's a chance that something's wrong with that part of the program. LGS didn't mess that up, but maybe it's a newer release?

The book in the observatory - this isn't a spoiler, as the book is in plain sight and this is just a quote from it - reads on the left-side page:
"The Master Builder [...] subjugate wild forcres of nature [...] Here [...] with optic machines [...] power of moon and stars focused into a pool of water, which I have name the Lunar Pool. I hadst hoped the water would show the "
And there is no right-side page - the left-side text ends at 'would show the' on the bottom line of the page. If I click on the right page to 'turn' it, the book closes. If I click anywhere when the book is open, the book closes. Neither the CD files copied onto my HD nor the mods for T1/G ((
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123228) - "Another thread about upgrading Thief 1 / Gold!") have installed a /book folder to find the text to read, and there is no .bin file I can find with book text in it to read/edit with a texteditor (notepad++, etc) if it would even open legibly.
There is one other book in 'Revisited', I forget where atm (didn't pay attention with the belief I'd need to know for something like this), which does the same thing - the left-page text is there, but the right-page is not. And by 'mid-sentence' I meant the last word on the left page is from the middle of a sentence, leading me to believe a right-page text section is supposed to be there.
Can someone put any text in 'Revisited''s book pages here? I can't get another copy of T1, and it's annoying to have such a small impediment to stop things mid-game. Thanks!

Bizarre. It is a spoiler because it gives you information necessary to win.
"The Master Builder doth surely gaze favorably upon our
crusade to subjugate the wild forces of nature with tools built in His
name. Here in this tower, with these optic machines, I have learned
much about the movements of the lights the Builder hast set above.
The divine power of the moon and stars hath been focused into a pool
of water, which I name the Lunar Pool. I hadst hoped the water would
show the"
"same properties as holy water, but it doth not. However, it
must hold the Builder's grace, for it doth bestow the Builder's
blessing upon holy symbols immersed in the pool. I shall investigate
this further, drawing forth knowledge for the glory of the Builder.

The texts are all in the BOOKS.crf file in the RES folder. The CRF files are renamed ZIP files, so you can Open With your zip program. The text files are STRs which are renamed TXT files, so you can Open With Notepad.
The other two-pager is the Prayer of Consecration. You don't have to read it, but you need it to meet an objective. Garrett will read it for you when it's time to meet the objective.
"The Prayer of Consecration
O Master Builder! We ask Thee to bless our brother who hath died in Thy
service. Forgive him the transgressions of his living days, and look with favor on
his works in Thy name."
"Plumb and plane, fire and forge, purify his spirit and draw
from him all which does not meet Thy plan. Take him to serve with Thee in Thy Home
where he may rest in peace eternal."
Is the name "Revisited" the name you've given the mission, or is that what "Return to the Cathedral" is called in your copy?
