I decided to play through Thief DS again (never finished it in the first place so mind spoiling anything!) and I want it to give me the best experience possible by using tweaks, high res textures, mods (if there's any?) etc. There are Tafferpatcher TFix for The Dark Engine games, but there isn't sadly any AllInOne packs for TDS, so I stumbled around and run across:
*Official v1.1 patch
*Garrett Loader
*John P's texture pack
*Minimalist project
*Sneaky upgrade
*(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83801) this and
*(
http://www.tweakguides.com/TDS_1.html) this.
So are there any other user made stuff and tweaks? Any mods, new sound packs, better AI, better graphics, more tweaks etc? I'm particularly interested in some better AI and making Garrett move smoothier, more "thiefy". And of course after I've finished the game I wanna check out the best FMs the community has to offer. Also in which order should I install all the stuff? I put them up there in the order I guess is correct, but I'm really confused! Has anyone written a comprehensive guide?
Thanks for your help in advance!

sneaky update and john p.'s textures should be all most users need.

It looks like you've covered all the main recommended fixes.
AFAIK, Sneaky Upgrade covers some general engine fixes in addition to widescreen fixes so it might be considered "DDFix for TDS"?
Minimalist Project definitely belongs on the recommended list, IMHO.
Side note: The Dark Mod for Doom 3 might be of interest to you if you want a next-gen Thief experience that is more
like Thief 1/2 (rope arrows, water where you can swim, etc.).

Two replies and already Dark Mod advertising...tststsss...
I could pass you some five or six proper (i.e. non-City hub) mission maps in which the loading zones have been eliminated but that would render you some kind of beta tester (Sneaky Upgrade necessary to play the Cradle). They would have to be copied over before running JohnP or TDS Tweaker (with tweaks that affect the ibt files but you probably couldn't tell anyway). Minimalist Project might work, too, but it is too confined to work with many other mods, plus, it hacks ibt files as well.

Well, as The Dark Mod's promoter, that is my "job" :D
In this case, the DiMarzio was specifically asking to make TDS more "Thiefy" which I presume is referring to T1/T2
so TDM is the best fit until someone hacks the movement of TDS further than the Minimalist mod.
I really wish there were some more fixes for TDS as I know that Tiens, Savar, etc wont be making TDM missions (just as I'm sure that you
are aware that Melan, Sotha, etc wont be making TDS missions).
After having only Thief Gold for the longest time (other than TDM), I finally got the Complete Collection and was excited to play some TDS missions with all mods in tow.
(I'd only played the TDS demo up till then.)
I was deeply disappointed with lock picking even after the Minimalist mod was applied. :(
If someone knows whether there's any other fixes to make TDS lock picking better, that would be great...
Those non-hub missions sound cool...

With those little insights gathered until now I'm pretty sure TDS could indeed be further tweaked (heck with all the ini stuff alone more could be done than to T1/2 before New Dark came), especially what concerns movements/body awareness. But the manpower has been lured somewhere else so there are only few working at all and not necessarily in all directions possible but instead focussing on their respective projects. Although I admit that lockpicking was fine for too many people as if it would be first on a to-do list.
But still, since when is the Dark Mod next gen? Is "generation" to be understood in Thief community terms? :p

I thought most things Garrett-related were hardcoded, but if not, that would be a great opportunity. Sneaky upgrade is the most essential thing right now, John P.'s textures are nice addition, but I know some don't approve a few style choices that deviate from original textures. You might also get the ModernLoader, for some missions will be compressed with .arc or .7z format, those have much better compression rate with .ibt files than zips.

The Sneaky Upgrade should have an FM loader, so no need for Modern Loader/TFMM/GarrettLoader etc.

That's great news as well! (Looks like I'm kinda out of the loop lately...)

Sneaky Upgrade thread needs to be stickied and the link to it in the Thief FAQ thread needs to be fixed...
