Nah, its not a coverup.
My working hypothesis is that chemtrails serve the same purpose as a smoke grenade does, but on a much larger scale to block out satellite observation.

Also, thats not what it looked like. What I saw was about five or six cargo-sized aircraft (they looked like C-130's) flying a circular pattern over Mount Cheyenne. The contrails didn't dissipate, but over the course of about a minute spread to form the edge of a grey cloud centered over Cheyenne.

Best part about fomenting conspiracy is when you know with certainty that if you hide something some people will assume conspiracy, it's dirt easy to engineer it to be exactly what you want. In this case the conspiracy is: Don't lie to us America! We know you're really nice guys that wouldn't assassinate on foreign soil. Don't try to fucking deny it you unscrupulously decent folk.
I mean, from the reports they make it sound like vast majority of Pakistanis assume it's a conspiracy and Bin Laden wasn't even in Pakistan much less killed there by Americans. Give them demonstrative proof and you'd never hear the end of the shitstorm. Be all sneaky and turn it into a conspiracy and holy shit they shout to the hills that nothing happened! I just see Obama hitting his fist on the desk saying can you fucking believe this? Could they make it any easier for us, the paranoid dumbfucks?

That's pretty much how they behave under more humid atmospheric conditions.
This whole myth could only develop in temperate places with more variable factors like humidity in the mid atmosphere. If chemtrail/contrail conspiracy nuts ever went to England they'd probably have a heart attack since just about every jet leaves one and it grows like that and Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world.
