I've been following (
http://outofhell.net/) this particular mod for ages. It's been delayed over and over again, and was actually set to be released at the end of April before suddenly the developer mentioned something about an opportunity then spent a month and a half not saying what. Or much of anything.
Well today he finally put up a (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1-f1Cho5pU) trailer as part of the media run-up to release. It looks absolutely smashing for a UT2K4 mod and I can't wait for this thing to finally come out. This along with Heart of Evil Napalm Edition and Dead Before Dawn means I have plenty of zombie mods to keep me amused this summer- provided they actually fucking come out.

Another one? :weird:

Excellent modelling, terrible animation. Honestly, that has to be the worst zombie lurch and shuffle I've ever seen. The models seem as if they're not quite connected to the ground.
Not that I think I could do better, it's been a decade since I even attempted to keyframe anything, but that herky-jerk dance of the undead sticks out like an Elvis Presley impersonator doing pelvic thrusts in the middle of a post apocalyptic landscape.

What other zombie mods for UT2K4 are there? Aside from Failing Floor.

I can't believe how long this has been going on

That looks fantastic!
And complaining about the animation? This is UT2004. You must have short memories if you really don't remember just how extremely recently it is that some FPS developers have made the effort to match animation with movement?
Unfortunate though it may be, the old slip-and-slide walking and running is the norm.
For a mod, this thing looks incredible.

That mod did actually start ages ago and I remember I was so pissed off I couldn't get the beta of it to work back then. :(
Good to see it wasn't abandoned, I haven't followed it since back then.

I meant generally. Seems like half of all mods these days are zombie-centered. Maybe I'm biased though, since I find that zombies tend to be boring.

You wanna know something? You definately won't get an argument from me on that matter! The sliding animation issue is something I'm not pleased with and I've tried over the years to constantly fix and tweak it but I just can't get it down right. The walk cycle itself is alright, but the way the engine handles the movement of the actors themselves makes it such a pain to get perfect! This is actually really prevalent in the stock game, especially with invasion mode monsters.
I hate that they give that gliding illusion but it was the best I could do. I actually had to pull myself away from it otherwise this thing would never get released! :D

Animations aside, I have to say that this is some of the best graphical work I've seen in UE2. If I wasn't told otherwise, I would've assumed this was done in Source.
Great job, Chicken+Ribs. :D
Edit: Did you render and export the shadow maps from Max or another high end editor? I don't remember any 2k4 based games having lighting quite that detailed.
