I think it's fantastic, despite the slowdown in some spots (no trouble with zombies though.) Reminds me in a couple respects of DrK's Night in Rocksbourg series, particularly the second one.
Only problem I have with the game is that it seems to enjoy crashing at the end of a map and I have to do the whole thing over again.

And a very good one too, that so far has avoided the cliche piano plinking that seems to be fairly common in zombie media. (See Resident Evil for an example, particularly the 2nd one.)

Downloading the mod as we speak. Love the music in the trailer, and I didn`t notice the jerkiness of the zombies personally, but maybe thats cause I`ve played a hell of alot of zombie mods over the years and have been desensitized to it lol.

I figured out what was causing most of the choppiness. I had my fog distance slider all the way up to 1.00 in the original Unreal 2004 settings and this is what was causing Out Of Hell to go into a slideshow most of the time (a huge amount of polygons being drawn, even if I couldn't see them they still ate frames). So I dropped it down to 0.1 and presto, a big amount of locations which were a pain to go through are now stutter free. I don't know if that particular setting will have any gameplay impact later in the game, but for now it's a godsend.
I did some testing after changing the fog distance and to my surprise, resolution and texture quality had absolutely no impact on the frame rate (last I played it was set on high +3 and the resolution was 1280x1024).
Soooo... I'm a very happy chappy right now.

I played it, took fifteen minutes to reach the first enemy due to dark environments and confusing levels. Reach the first enemy, kill it, another appears, it takes a swipe at me, I kill it, a third appears, it kills me before I can fill it with enough holes.
Protip, developers: Don't make enemies really fast in a game that drops to 10-20FPS when they're on the screen.
I'll give it another try if the consensus is that I rejected it out of hand, but my impression is not good.

I don't know what the problem with the framerate is, you're not alone on that (I haven't had an issue though.)
It gets a lot better once you get back to the helicopter, I swear. Just be prepared for the occasional crash upon exiting a level.
And anyway didn't your momma ever tell you to aim for the head?

Hell, I did, and the first one's head blew off and it lived, and for a second or two I thought my lag was just letting it play an extended death animation before I realized it was still trying to kill me.
