Well, with a voucher I was able to bring the above deal down to £8 including shipping, so I've ordered a copy. :D
I would have given you my copy just to get the horrible thing out of my house.

But how did you really feel? :p
In all seriousness though, apart from the save system what were your impressions of the game?

Well, I finished Overlord 1 this weekend and had a great time for 90% of the game. Towards the end it was way too easy to have your entire minion army wiped out by a careless move (cough, Sandworms, cough), so I had to do a couple sessions in the arena to restock. Even so, I ran out of greens and almost browns during the final battle, but managed :D.

Fantastic humor and style coupled with gameplay that borders on insulting.

MsLedd, that Elven Rebellion was driving me potty too, especially the last bit, but then I read Gamefaqs, and found out that there's a spider run that allows you to get a green on to the last bomber platform. The trick is to recall as soon as the spider hits the platform, and the elves all give up.

Ah well, for eight quid I'm prepared to accept a multitude of sins. Thanks for your input though!

I got about two hours of sheer joy out of the game before it so infuriated me that I was actually personally insulted as a consumer of video games. The fact that I played and gave up on the prequel may have colored my impression, though, like getting back together with an abusive ex girlfriend and then deciding to cut and run after she only hits you once.

The second one is a flawed gem, just like the first one, but i must say, that the first one is a much better game post expansion and patches. Overlord 2 added some great features (ability to resurrect better minions), while removing others (battle arena). What really irritates me however is its huge amount of bugs. As if that was not enough the game brings back the abysmal save system from the first game and completely destroys what little magic system the first part had. Writing and humor still make it worthwhile in the end though.
