Playing Thief Gold for the first time, already played through TDP, I've gotten to the level that involves the gambling house and the Thieves' Guild. When I go to the map screen my location isn't registered by the usual blue field, I've gotten into rooms that are definitely marked on the map. I went back to saves on previous missions and the map is still work there. I can get through the level fine without my map working, but I'm curious if this has been documented before, I would think it must but I couldn't find any mention of it after a rudimentary search.
Non-Sequiter: Thief in the singular but Thieves in the plural, one of those vestigial constructions from when English was a highly inflected language perhaps?

I think quirks in the automap are so common that they tend to be just dismissed. Quality control was not as high on the TG missions as they were on the basic set, I suspect.

You'll have to ask Tolkien. I recall reading a short paragraph of his (I think it was in The Hobbit, actually) about the usage of Dwarfs versus Dwarves. I'm sure he'd have loads to say on that topic.
