What? So artists aren't allowed to change their minds? And aren't allowed to stray outside of the genres and styles they've established themselves in?
Adding back in the rest of what I said:

...to appease some group or to achieve some sort of gain...
Artists must change and evolve for their own sake, but if they only do so to pander to what the industry dictates or to become accepted by the drooling pop-culture -- after they have railed against doing so -- then they are sellouts.
I'm not saying that working in an industry where one can AutoTune the news and come up with a hit single, or to keep the American Idol watchers a screamin', is a bad thing. But it is a sellout if you have made a career on standing against doing such a thing.
It's like Jefferson Airplane becoming Starship--they made a shitload of money at the time by changing their look, their sound, their lyrics, and by releasing some of the most God awful pop songs that are now considered jokes. But they did so only to continue making money in the 80s culture, instead of retiring as relevant pioneers of the 60s, not to continue making music.

How dare they try to support themselves financially!
And if Ozzy doesn't play games how come he'll be playing CoD?

On this we agree.

On this we disagree. I don't believe that if an artist makes a bad decision he has to stick with it for the rest of his life. Lets take, hypotethically, an outspoken homophobic hip-hop artist (with a large homophobic fanbase) who eventually realizes that "hey, gays aren't so bad". Can he rhyme "gay" with "okay" on his next album or will that be selling out?
I'm talking about ideals here but ofcourse the same applies to music-styles.
I say that if MC Homophobic Rapper tones down his lyrics to improve his sales he's selling out, but if he simply does it because he's changed his mind he isn't.

God, you're missing the point. Ozzy WAS (and sadly no longer) the Prince of Darkness. He spat upon conventional, mainstream bullshit. CoD MW2 is the epitome of this. Ozzy isn't even a gamer. Watch his show, he even states that. He says to Jack that he has no clue what these games on tele are all about.
Jesus.
He is a mere shadow of the Ozzy I worshiped in the 80s. He flipped the bird @ convention.

Don't forget pissing on the Alamo.
