Both Thief 4 and Deus Ex 3 will be absent from this year's E3 :/
In an other interview, not too long ago they said DX3 will be there and they'll have a teaser for Thief 4 (called it the second project at the time of course). :weird: I guess it's not gonna happen... :(

Bollocks.

it's those little touches that should make the new game (and the story of course), if I suddenly get a 6barreled automatic arrow launcher I won't be happy ;)

I think shooters are fine - it's an adrenaline rush.
Honestly, I got more of an adrenaline rush from just the DEMO of Thief 1 than I've ever gotten from any shooter... and all the demo was was Bafford's, which isn't exactly the most intense level of Thief.

Eh, I love Thief as much as the next person here, and yes, I do get Adrenaline rushes from some levels (like return the Cathedral ) but if I want action, and constant excitement I'll play Counter-Strike. Thief is for sitting back, and out-stratigizing your enemy, and taking your time doing so. Well, at least I take my time.

and that will be the downfall of it. The "larger audience" aka mass market aka ADD monkeys think slow-paced is boring. You cannot appeal to them and still make a "true" Thief game, and I don't mean that in some elitist "they don't undestand" way, it just doesn't entertain them, hell even Ken Levine said himself he doesn't think stealth/sneaking is fun. What you have to accept, if you want to make a truly great Thief game, is that it will not sell crazy much but it can sell good/decently, and that has to be acceptable for all business people involved in order to provide a setting where a good Thief game can be made.
Trying to shoe-horn it into mass apeal will force intruduction/elimination of things that are contradictory to why Thief kicks ass. They won't be entertained by crouching in a dark corner with a racing heart, waiting for a guard to give up searching, or enjoy standing pressed up a dark wall for a minute or two to figure out the best timing to get past a patrolling guard etc.

oh i certainly wouldn't say its excitement I get while playing Thief... it can be nerve-wracking and frightening and fun certainly, but no I don't think I'd use the word exciting... or it's at least a completely different kind of excitement if you still want to use the term :p

I agree with you Myagi , but what I am hoping for is that EM will set the difficulty levels that are geared to the individual playing style. Easy for the fast, shoot and kill everything and lowering the need for stealth (like current Thief but even faster and easier). Expert for the slow stealth (classic Expert Thief and my preferred method) style, dont kill anyone and hold your breath. Patience and timing key.

What is this?? Slow-paced = boring? Stealth games need to be slow paced, they are not aimed for the casual ADHD audience! Argh casuals killing gaming.

Maybe they'll add a 'Ghosting' difficulty (although it's sort of useless to have anything dedicated to Ghosting. Those who want to Ghost, will Ghost.)

I think there is a VERY thin line between boring and slow paced. :erm:
Some games aren't meant for certain crowds of people. I really hope Thief 4 doesn't suffer with attempts made to appeal to everyone and their mother. I understand the need to get more people to buy your game, but at what costs to the overall integrity of the game?
It reminds me of the recent Resident Evil 5 gripe from uneducated gamers.
"Why can't I run and shoot at the same time? This should control more like game X"
Capcom - "No, see. This is Resident Evil."
Apply that same thinking to Thief 4, and be very scared.
"Why can't I just take my boots off so no one will ever hear me?"
:tsktsk:
