This looks awful.
What the hell is del Toro thinking.
The problem is just that you are too dense to understand his brilliance.

Really? I like a lot of his other stuff.
Can you briefly explain it to me?

Yeah, it looks like Transformers, but with action scenes where you can actually tell what's going on. I think it'll be good.

And what's with the praise for the guy who gave us Hellboy, Blade 2, and Mimic? Did anybody like these films?
Come on, Blade 2 was great! Cool fightscenes, awesome soundtrack, beautiful cinematography... Ron Perlman and Snipes facing off. The first Blade was good as well, but part 2 is defenitely my favourite.

And Mimic was great and Hellboy was great, and Hellboy 2 was great as well.
s'easy really.

I liked Blade 2. Not as much as the first though.

I'm another fan of Blade 2. Yes, it's silly. Yes, some of the CGI is really bad. But it had charm and personality, didn't take itself too seriously, and it was fun. Same with Hellboy, really. (Can't remember Mimic too well.) My favourite Del Toro film is definitely The Devil's Backbone, but for sheer fun I'll choose Blade 2 and Hellboy (the Director's Cut - not a huge improvement, but some welcome tweaks).

I liked everything I heard about Hellboy before I saw it. Ron Perlman in a leading-role, Del Toro directing, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds song on the soundtrack. All the stars were lining up but somehow the movie just failed to move me. I liked the sequel more. :erg:

Really? I thought the original was far more "Mignola", and loved it for that, whereas the sequel just felt far too "Del Toro". It was good, but seemed to venture much further into Del Toro's fairly distinctive 'dreamlike' fantasy territory. Plus, not enough nazis.
henke on 14/12/2012 at 13:41
I had to Google "Mignola". Ah. Never read the comics so I don't care how faithful it is.

Why are you all comparing this to transformers when it's clearly a tribute to kaiju? Even the setting is compatible with that... haven't any of you seen Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla?
