That thing looks like a combination of a whole bunch of things that shouldn't be combined with each other.

They call it media convergence.

There have been attempts to bring FPS games to a pocket sized device before, but they've been less than stellar.
The homebrew Nintendo DS (
http://www.jefklak.com/games/ds-doom/) version of doom is perfectly playable and although I haven't tried them (
http://quake.drunkencoders.com/) Quake 1 and 2 are also available (the latter requires a RAM expansion).

I just got a netbook and am pretty happy with how portable it's turning out to be, and better for mobile gaming than I was expecting. Pandora adds the gaming controls, but after playing on emulators for a while now I think I'm better at keyboard controls and would have to get used to normal controls again. Then there's the size difference, which is something. Not sure I'd really carry it in my pocket, though; it'd go in something like the small pocket of my bag, but then I can already carry my netbook in my bag. So it's not bowling me over yet compared to the netbook.
OTOH, compared to my iPod it still has the stellar advantage of being able to actually get to files and modify & move them around like a normal PC, the absence of which on the iPod annoys me to no end. (Also the whole "openness" & FUBU ethos of the Pandora is appealing.) But then the iPod is crazy small.
I'll keep Pandora on my radar. Hopefully they get enough support to improve it over time, making it a bit smaller and optimizing some things. As I was thinking above, I think they have a better case taking on a iPod/iPhone type role than netbooks, and should push in that direction to the extent they can.
