Hey, great Fan Mission, enjoying it so far though it can be a little bit too tough for me at times.
One question: Where EXACTLY can I find the map for mission 7? Playing on expert.
Hi, It is in
Capellan's apartment, 1st floor, study, between the desk and the wall.
And there is a
(green?) book in the archive 1st floor, on bookshelf next to sofa, if you would like to complete a bonus objective later in mission 9, read it as well

3 things are required to complete that objective:
1.
Book on the Monastery of St Karras location:
living quarters, upper floor, rest room2.
Mechanists' map location:
congress hall3.
Captives' Interrogation Records from Monastery of St Karras location: normal:
vault expert:
archive, under stairsI'm playing on Hard and I have
the Book on the Monastery of St Karras, Captives' Interrogation Records from Monastery of St Karras and Monastery of St. Karras' Maps. The objective doesn't tick off. Am I missing something?

PotatoGuy, when you say you have the Monastery of St. Karras Maps, what do you actually have? There are 2 maps in the mansion, one is the map of the island, found on the wall in Congress Hall, the other is a map of the monastery itself found in Capallen's quarters, the map you need to complete the prisoner objective is the map found in Congress Hall, the other one map is seriously useful when you get to the Monastery itself, which is HUGE and without that map you will have a very much harder time.
Just checking but where did you find the Captives Interrogation Records, on hard they are on top of a tall bookcase in the archives, but seeing they are found in other locations on normal and expert it might be that somehow you've found the wrong CIR's.

Ah, I didn't know there were two kind of maps. I missed the one in Congress Hall indeed. The records were on the bookcase indeed, so that one was right. Thanks for the help!

Ok, playing this one and have flipped the 5 levers and smashed the statue to open the vault. However, I can't find a way to remove the red beams in the vault entry. I've read the control mechanism is on the base of the tower, but I can't find a way in there. I know it is the red button on the lobby balcony, but there is no way up and the balcony doors are locked and unpickable. Any hints? Am I just missing a hidden key somewhere?
Edit: Never mind. Found a glasscutter in the basement. I think I know what to do now.

I know that as a ghoster you are not allowed to use walkthroughs but this is arguably the most challenging FM ever, with some of the puzzles being more than frustrating, so expect to get stuck time and time again. Ask in the forum for hints when you need them or PM me directly.
But make sure that before you finish this mission you find the map for the monastery (mission 7: Heretic), without you'll have a really tough time later.

The only hint was I read about a glasscutter in one of the posts. Then I figured it was in a workshop or a lab, which it was. This was a great mission, but there should have been a hint to that glasscutter, since it is mandatory in order to finish the mission. There was a readable talking about "if someone is able to break the glass", but that was too vague. The problem is the cutter doesn't look like a special quest item, it just looks like junk, which there is a lot of in the basement. Randomly frobbing every item isn't fun. Finished this one without any other hints needed, completed all optional objectives, and even found all the loot. :D Used your walkthrough afterwards to find a couple of missing secrets, but those only had weapons or potions, no loot, so I'm good there.
Although it is difficult so far, it is not unbearable, and I think I am picking up on Zontik's style. His missions are really well thought out.
I think I found the map you're talking about. There was one on the wall that completed an objective, and then another in Capellan's study next to the desk on the floor (monastery map). Those were the only two maps.

I agree that a lot of the hints in this campaign are obscure, but they are there, but you do need to get into Zontik's way of thinking to realise their significance, lateral thinking helps considerably.
Yes you've got the map of the monastery, it was the one of the floor by Capellan's desk but did you also find ‘The case of the disappearance of Lady Fouls (closed)'? This is a book found in this mission needed in order to complete an optional objective in mission 9: Enemy
klatremus on 19/5/2023 at 05:30
Yes I am pretty sure I read that. It was in a library (archive?), but you couldn't pick it up if I remember correctly. You could just read it. At least I don't have it in my inventory.
What is up with 14 pickpockets? I only got 4...
Edit: Just peeked at the next mission's objectives. Yikes!!!
