PC Gamer magazine list the top 100 games of all time. Here are the top ten:
1 Deus ex
2 Half Life 2
3 Team Fortress 2 (yuk)
4 Half Life
5 Rome Total War (yuk)
6 Oblivian
7 Fallout
8 Planescape Torment
9 Thief II
10 Fallout 3
I would have liked to see Thief above half life. At least they did rate it above 91 others.

I agree, it deserves to be in second place, for sure.
Is there their own ratings or did they conduct a public poll?

Another pointless list. Not berating you, Bedwine, but for example: Fallout 3, often regarded as having solid gameplay but is absolutely soulless and unimaginative in many areas. Stalker should be on that list instead.
Glad to see they give Thief 2 props, though am I the only one that regards the original campaign as being overall weaker than Thief Gold ? (less convincing, Mechanist missions are often "arcade" stealth in style, having to avoid those damn immersion-breaking robots and security cameras)

I like Deaus Ex, but I'd definitely put HL2 in first place - I'd put Thief II in 2nd, then maybe Deus Ex third.

Personally, I think Planescape: Torment is a bit overrated.

For such a list, that's not bad.
I really must play Torment I guess, but can I bring myself to go that far back? I think maybe "you had to be there".

Considering the engine, it holds up quite well! To go back and try Baulder's Gate etc, though... not so much. Torment was the one.

Alright I'm near convinced (I'm always bitching that there's nothing worth playing, so I ought play what is...)
Let me say this and ask you these:
I am impressed by the list because it has many of my favorite games. I mostly, almost exclusively you might say, like adventure games. I just like the fact that that list has so many of the other games I'd rate way up high.
Nevertheless, Thief (etcetc) is far and away without any doubt not even debatable way up high the best game ever. And I have enjoyed the hell out of a lot of other games; been playing since PC XT days.
If I've played and loved Fallout, am I really going to get something great out of Torment? Or I have actually played the best 'that era' RPG kinda thing? Or am I completely offbase here?
