More like Powerplay, Games for Windows, and XNA am I right?

As long as it prevents PC gaming being wiped away by console tards....

Cool. If it yields consistent positive results, I'll change that to Awesome. One can hope.

It seems like hardware backing for Windows Live/Games For Windows, which is essentially an attempt to turn the PC into a kind of console.
As I said in there, the sense I always get is that these folks would like nothing else but to get rid of all the things that make PC gaming what it is; the modularity, the messiness, the homebrew, and above all the people. That touch of anarchy that defines it is always the thing that's got to go.

It doesn't help, of course, that there's 9 million people glued to World of Warcraft and not playing any other PC games because of it.

Give it another 5 years, consoles will be just as expensive as PC's but won't do as much, or companies will take losses on keeping them cheap. Either way the PC market is gonna bounce back some.

I especially like the part of the response article that talks about how PC gamers want to fuck around with their computers, which makes the whole idea of standardization a joke. As much as I hate to admit it, and as much as I bitch about it, there's nothing like installing a new vid card myself that I've saved up to buy, then firing up a new batch of games on it. I only do it about once every 2-3 years but damn, it's the closest thing I to feeling like Christmas morning from when I was a kid that I get.

PC's still doing fine. No, PC will rarely see the sales of the consoles. Theres a bunch of reasons for that.
I'd set it up in a nice pie chart if the values were not totally off the top of my head. Whiners like Cliffy B would have you believe its piracy. No, not the biggest problem by a long shot. The biggest hurdle is that Dell's best sellers are the bare bones 4 year old computer parts with jazzed up advertising and for all they know a low price. John Q. public does not know what he's buying(If I hear the 'I just bought it' crap from one more person I'm going to scream). Odds are they cant run your snazzy new game. Plus you have to put out a game thats WORTH buying, but thats just UT3/Gears of War I'd be talking about.

In any case. The PC is still fine. The thing is though that it traditionally has a lower sale rate. Games like WoW and the sims being the enigma.
I agree fully with Muzman. Back when they were talking about streamlining video cards by performance with DX10 it almost gave me an ulcer. I was glad when it never happened.
