Too bad it was not about improving games by making them more complex and less console like.
Which is not necessarily improving them, but I'm not going to open that can of worms again.

They need to realize that PCs are a platform all their own and should be treated like one. If you build and maintain a gaming PC then you don't want to play console ports. If you did, you'd just buy a 360 and save some money and hassle. Developers need to make PC games that all gamers want to play and stop trying to corner the entire market by releasing ports.

I'm not sure whether to be happy about this or not. Intention is good, but what about the results...

Woah, woah, hold you horses. You don't even know if that's the case :erg: And rather cynically for how the industry has gone, I would expect otherwise.

How the industry has gone?
inselaffe on 27/2/2008 at 01:33
you seem to missunderstand my use of the word "gone". Rather in this context it means changed. I care not for the sucess of it but more the lack of any quality on the pc from an established developer that has not been tampered with to fit with compared to 10 years ago.
Also nice use of the edit function to make my post almost redundant.

I don't buy the idea that there were more quality games being released in 1997 than there were in 2007. I'm not saying that there were a ton of great games released last year, just that there weren't a ton released 10 years ago either.
Of course, a lot of people here would probably have a higher opinion of the industry if their favorite developer were currently working on Baldur's Gate 9 and System Shock 42 while simultaneously complaining about how publishers milk franchises to death.

You don't have to make a sequel to make a game like those of that era though but i do get what you are saying about rose tinted and all that.
