Well I heard that it was, but I can't find a list of developer requirements anywhere, so you might be right. It's just that every 360 game I've played (apart from some arcade ports) does support 5.1. Either way, it's very common.

It isn't trolling, that actually is his genuine opinion.
Mine as well. He is shit.

re: 5.1
Is supporting it the same as using it though? That might be the thing.
Anyway, yeah, the shoddy lack of occusion thing is weird. And given some instances where it's necessary for some scenes, probably deliberate.
The vastly over saturated and inappropriate reverb isn't as bad if you're listening on a wide system over PC speakers or headphones. So I figure no self respecting sound person would let it through unless someone had said "This build sounds fine in the test room. Don't work on it anymore". Which happens.
But it's far from the only explanation of course: time, money and ineptitude also being likely candidates.

I disagree

The other thing to keep in mind is that many console games have come up with a perfectly viable alternative to leaning (for shooters) with their cover mechanics, which allow you to lean around walls and even over cover.

I respect different opinions, really I do.
But saying KG is "shit" is like saying Megan Fox is ugly. You may not like her, she may not be up your street, you may prefer Alison Hannigan, and that's a fair opinion. But to say she is ugly is just stupid.
KG is one of the few games journalists, that I'm aware of, that really analyses game culture and game mechanics. The rest of the RPG team are pretty good too imho, but if you don't like them, or just KG, that's fine. But to call him "shit" is stupid and anyone that does should be duty bound to provide us with the name of someone they think better.
Stitch on 8/1/2010 at 17:01
Everything I've read by KG was pretty solid and well-thought out, even if I didn't agree with him. Calling him shit or, even worse, holding a public one-sided grudge against the guy is just pathetic.
He's a gaming journalist you don't agree with. Get over it.

I don't care about KG one way or another (other than I think he's a bit pretentious but then again that's nothing new for TTLG members, myself included.) I'm just calling Matthew out on his "I no longer respect you because you don't like KG" nonsense. How is that any better than just writing KG off as shit?
