100%. Pretty hard to miss.
Well, it's not in any of the help screens that get saved after the tutorial, and I never heard anyone tell me about, so... pretty easy to miss.

It pops up on the screen in a dark room that practically requires you to use the light. Sorry if I sounded condescending, I just thought it was shown adequately.

Well, I feel kind of stupid and will need to re-play the tutorial and look for that dark room, since it never popped up for me.

I remember that bit too.

My vote for best of PC gaming in 2009 goes to The Nameless Mod.
I find myself getting less and less interested in new PC games every year. 2007 was a good year with STALKER, Orange Box, Bioshock, etc. But the only 2008 game I played was Fallout 3, and the only thing I picked up in 2009 was Ghostbusters (which I haven't even played). Anybody else feel similarly?
Also, I don't think there's any point in disputing the influence of consoles on PC gaming and vice-versa. To me, it seems obvious that the emphasis on consoles and/or multi-platform development has improved the state of console gaming to the detriment of PC gaming. I don't know how much of my gaming apathy is due to consolization and how much is just getting older, but certainly it's a bit of both.

I often feel the same way, watching trailers and previews and just thinking 'meh', but good games still happen.
2007 was indeed good, (for me it was Stalker, Witcher, Crysis, GRAW2, and I guess Portal too), but in 2008 I thought it'll only be the Crysis/Stalker sequel. Then I came across the new Prince of Persia game, and Dead Space, and those were fun. Last year, after ArmA2, I thought the year was over gaming-wise, but then I found out about Cryostasis and The Void, both of which turned out to be awesome.
So just keep your eyes open, you'll find something you like. :)
