Hmm yer apparently their own direct download and gamersgate sales did well too - that's where i got mine :) was a nice deal as no drm either. Good games, but still on my to play list.
Is the tech demo worth playing before i start the collection? Or does it spoil the first game?
Also I did try to play the tech demo but the floor and walls and things were partly black and missing textures which was a rather strange problem. They said something about disabling catalyst ai (whatever that actually does) but it didn't seem to help.

I really recommend the tech demo. It's a great little demo and it is what lead to Frictional Games actually making a full retail game out of Penumbra, I believe. If it wasn't for the tech demo there wouldn't be any penumbra games I don't think.
And no, the tech demo doesn't really ruin the first game, as the tech demo is different from the first game. The only thing is, the demo sort of sets the stage, as the same storyline is used pretty much for the full game. The intro movie for the tech demo is great; if I remember right (from the top of my head), the intro movie was changed for the full game.
Also, just in case anyone is confused, I'm talking about the technology demo, NOT the full game's demo. There's a demo for the game as well.:)
