I had forgot that i was using my Geforce 5700, and not my Geforce 6200! I just swapped cards back over and it's much better. [/quot]
you know... there's envy in this world...

I love it. :)
The Thief-style* intro set the tone perfectly and I've been running around the bunker for an hour now trying to figure out what's going on. The gameplay is like a first-person point-and-click adventure game. You don't have any weapons except for a few sticks of dynamite, but they don't seem to do much beside stun the monsters a bit. So mostly you'll just have to run away, get behind a door and start stacking up boxes and chairs and crap so the monster won't get through... not without some effort, anyway. I've made it to the office and gotten the keycodes of the computer but I think I still need a passcard to get to level 2.
Criticisms? Can't think of many... the textures and physics aren't quite up to the level of HL2. The sound and background music is well done tho.
* hand-drawn pictures and first-person narration
edit: Well... I got to level 2 and... The End. Hmm... I thought it'd be longer but I guess it's just the first episode.

Played it a bit today, and it's charming - for a freelance effort, it's simply amazing. I lift my fez for the producers.
Unfortunately, I get many crashes, mostly while interacting with objects. The way it crashes, it seems to be something with my graphic card.

You can kill it.
Lure it into the nearby room with the broken power cord above the door. Pull the power lever on the wall just as the monster passes beneath the break. ZAP, THUD. :thumb: I enjoyed using the environment rather than a weapon to kill the monster . Nice little touch.
I'd love to see someone help finance this project. It lacks polish, both in the graphic design (very primitive level design -- I'm sure the engine is capable of more) and the gameplay mechanic. But it's got great potential.
It seems simple and silly, but I found it surprisingly fun and satisfying to manually nudge open drawers and doors using the mouse.
And that intro had to be influenced by Thief. His voice even sounds a little like Garrett.

It was originally created as a tech-demo.

There's more than one. The second you can't kill.

You can. Keep chucking dynamite at it.

I like the storyline. I see screenshots that show the enemy but you seem to need to solve puzzles to get around them. Not a traditional shooter than more a first person puzzler that concentrates mainly on the interactions with the environment then actual gameplaying.. I've downloaded it and but lots of lagging and crashings later I find it kind of plays like Half Life 2 in re to physics and reminds me of Resident Evil and Doom. Good thing its free, I've been sucked in on spending money on a game just because the environment looks good.

Interaction with the environment is gameplay, doofus.
jimjack on 31/7/2006 at 17:22
But its not the only definition of gameplay either. Environmental interaction to me is immersion or a setting for what I think is defining gameplay, and that is AI interactions and use of weaponry.l I actually prefer more of that kind of play as I do in trying to work around puzzles. Which works well in say the Prince of Persia series. I say this because I would really like to retaliate by flinging back my take to your doofus but i wont..yet.
Uncia on 31/7/2006 at 17:47
It's not a definition of gameplay, it's a part of it.
