Don't all the best jokes have a some element of truth in them? Fwiw I thought he was joking in the OP, but at the same time saying if you don't like, aren't at least able to appreciate what there is to like about Johnny Cash you've got poor taste, which I think is a given. So although he's not 100% serious there is an element of truth in the joke. I dunno; it's exactly the type of joke I'd make and I think in the past few months dethtoll has been given an unnecessary amount of stick - hence his reaction here to Scots.

He'll be given stick for anything he says because it's calibrated to be as bluntly offensive and caustic as necessary to fuck with his target audience; that's been his style forever.
Meanwhile, I don't see why we're having this elliptical conversation over a joke made in the same vein as his own. There's no need to over-react and protect wee widdle deth-ums here. If he can dish it out, he'll have to take it.
