I just discovered something I've never seen being reported before. Somehow I managed to make the effect of a speed potion permanent, even after saving and reloading the game. I believe it has something to do with saving the game at the right moment, perhaps exactly when the effect of the potion wear off. Happened by accident in Soulforge.

Wild guess:
I wonder if that is similar to the "torch going out again" bug that happens when you water arrow a torch and then save.

Was the torch going out again a bug? Didn't realize that... just happens to me most of the time... I'd sure like to try the speed potion permanent bug...

I have observed that all unlit torches (except secret levers ofcourse) appear to go out when you start or load a mission.

I made a few attempts to reproduce the speed potion bug, but failed yet. Well, perhaps it was a random bug.

The torch thing has to do with how save files work. When you load a save it tells the game where and in what state objects are in, then places them in the map that the save tells them. As the save is only for objects and states it can't save things like unlit torch compared to lit torch, but it can save if the torch was put out or not.
It's very early so I hope that makes sence. If you want to really know load a T2 save in DromEd for Thief or vice versa and you'll understand.

Wow, a two and a half year bump. Great
Yes you can.
Go into game mode in DromEd, press escape to enter the game menu, load your save game, enter editor mode and there you go.
The save games are not much more than difference patches on the original mission files.

So you prefer to constantly create new threads with the same topic, because an old thread is, well, an old thread and should rest in peace? In this case it makes sense that we see so many Thief 4 related threads, instead of reusing the old ones. :eww:

Makes sense. Never knew this though, so even if the thread is so old, it still told me something new. :)
