TBH, that is a way more awesome prize than I was expecting.
Aye I thought so too. It could be utterly destructive to game's design, but from the winner/gamer's point of view, it's actually really damn awesome prize.

It would've been hilarious if Godus never got funded.
SubJeff on 26/5/2013 at 23:17
That's brilliant. If Godus is good and popular it'll be amazing.

I tried watching the LP of curiosity, but got a little bored.

Initial thought: "I sure am glad I didn't pledge any money for Godus".
SubJeff on 27/5/2013 at 13:48
Really? I'm baffled. Why would this affect you in that way?

I think he's assuming Pety will give this guy full creative control to make ruin the game. Could very well be the case, but I doubt their whole studio and design team would be happy to give all that up. I'd realistically expect them to just get the guy onboard as designer, but we'll see, it is an "experiment" after all.
but then again it is a molynoux game so it can only go up from here, amiriteguys :joke:?

There's no way it's anything other than a Game Master type role, where he'll get to decide on global events. No way he'll have any design input.
Shadowcat on 28/5/2013 at 10:44
My interpretation wasn't that they would have any design input. The impression I got was that once the game is operational, this person will have some measure of control over it. Obviously only in ways permitted by the designers, but by the same token it needs to be genuine to some extent, otherwise that whole video was just a load of tosh.
Which suggests to me that if this random Player X is a dick, then s/he should be able to do dickish things in the game.
Now, the financial kickback is an interesting aspect. That gives them incentive to not be a dick, lest people abandon the game on their account, and stop spending money on it. I would speculate that there's a chance this bonus was included for that reason more than any other.
Or I could be massively off-base. I don't know anything about the game really (I didn't back it because I learned my lesson when I pre-ordered Black & White, so I haven't really been paying attention), and I could have misinterpreted that video as well.

That's a very good point. It'll be interesting to see where it goes. I imagine it will boost sales of the game since people will be curious.
