He truly was an amazing actor--one of the finest of our generation.
Regardless of whether it was an OD or a bad batch of heroin (problems of which are being reported along the East coast), what's truly a crying shame is that he had gone through heroin detox not too long ago in an attempt to kick the addiction. It just shows, you cannot fall back even for one moment.
So, keep battling those demons, Sly. I'm pulling for you. :)

This is awful news to everybody who likes good cinema.
I've never found a reason to say that recreational drug use is a good idea. And here's another case in point. So sad, what a waste.
I hope is family is dealing well.

One of the best actors of his generation. It is truly a great loss for the craft. Mr. Hoffman, you will be missed.
Found some reports on youtube and it is disgusting some of the hateful things being said. Sort of supports the case against anonymity online.
