BTW I was confused why the Taj Mahal was in the background of Bhopal but realized it must be Taj ul Masajid. Same profile.
Yeah it is kinda similar huh. Not as "impressive" as the Taj Mahal, nor as pretty (especially up close), but fucking massive (One of the biggest in Asia, apparently). To be honest, out of all of these buildings I was most impressed by either Humayan's Tomb (the precursor to the Taj Mahal) or the Jama Masjid mosque in Chandi Chowk. Maybe because it is such a busy mosque and it is full of boys running around, practicing their faith.
I nearly passed out when I saw Humayan's Tomb. One of the most beautiful structures I've ever seen. Qutb Minar was also :O
It got to a point in India where we encountered so much that was utterly staggering that we kind of just tuned out. So when we saw the mosque in Bhopal, we were kind of numb to it and in that phase of seeing India where the only thing that would still catch the eye was the spirituality and the abjection; the way people move about and how heavily the caste system affects people - if you know what I mean. You sound like you've been there so you probably do :I

Indeed, that snowy garden one is lovely :)
I utterly apologize to Tocky for not picking the code behind his words. I'm not a classic muscle car expert. Or a cypher expert :p

Love that one:
Looks like I'll have to take another US road trip to check out all the things I missed. These places you're posting look gorgeous :)
(Australia first though!)

Wait. Renz laments not being somewhere picturesque...
Hey now. I never said it wasn't picturesque. It's beautiful around here, specially in the fall, as your pictures attest to. I'd just like to have some more variety.
Two cool things.
The place I marked in your shot here...

http://users.chartertn.net/greymatt/lift.jpgAnd that shot of the Blue Ridge mountains? I'm almost definite I've been there before, years ago. My dad used to be friends with a guy who owned a goodly chunk of land out that way. We'd head down there and raft down the Ocoee about once a month, and I think we'd pass that exact spot along the way.

See? The way you took those shots made me think it was in a desolate location. They FELT desolate. Nearly every shot I take looks like an off the hip vacation shot. I never seem to capture the beauty and awe of a place either.
I think that one is of Cold Mountain from the blueridge above Ashville but I could be wrong. The place you are thinking of is a semicircular turnout with a wood railing where some chick is bemoaning the loss of her lesbian lover in a carving on it maybe? There are so many overlooks.
You rafted from the upper Ocoee dam?

http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/vv174/NGCalfee/th_Ocoeeriver.jpgRespect. That is some rough water and when you reach the sharks teeth section of rocks it seems to go on forever. That part looks like it would slice and dice. There is a train track that runs along the left side around the mountain bends that I figured defunct until I saw one chugging magnificent and it would have made a great picture but my wife was already screaming and the people I was running off the road were screaming and who can remember a camera in that cacophany?
Did you see the video of the rockslide that blocked the road at the launch spot? Awesome that somebody caught that as it happened last spring. Not so awsome I had to detour but we got to ride the dragon tail 129 spin and puke road which might be fun on a motorcycle.
