Physics / Item interaction. - by RePlay

Possible desired changes to the laws of physics and item interaction in Deus Ex.
1. Sliding objects. Objects can slide down slopes. Ie. Grenades ??, unconscious characters.
2. Thrown items can break or damage things. There were many times in Deus Ex when I wanted to throw a fire extinguisherm, a chair or a table at a window to smash it.
3. Dropping / throwing heavy items at enemy should hurt / kill them.
Note, the AI would have to pay more attention to the seeing or hearing dropping items.
Any more ? - would there be any side effects to this?

Good suggestions... I think that throwing objects in 3D games in general must improve - in just about all the games I can think of, you "throw" an object with no control over how far it will go or where it will land.
More destructible environments would also be a good thing. I wonder how the Unreal Warfare engine handles this sort of thing?

I'd like a meter in which the longer you hold down the "throw" key( TAB, or whatever) the more forceful the throw. With a good physics and collision engine (SS2's was actually really good) you could open up a whole new level of gameplay...

The Dark's physic's were good, but not the collision. Often you would drop a wrench next to a wall and it would be half in/out of the wall. Bodies would intersect with lifts, etc..

In Half-Life you can throw the grenades farther by holding down the button longer, then release. I wish the same was implemented in deus ex.

Alai,
No you can't. Holding down the button in HL is simply for priming the grenade. How far you throw it depends on the angle at which your character is looking and whether or not you jump when you release it, or whether or not you're moving. When you hold down the button, it starts a timer that counts down from 3, like a regular grenade.
rhaibus,
I like your idea. This idea worked in SWAT 3. If you hold down the button, a litttle meter shows up underneath the grenade, and depending on how far you let the meter go to the right, the harder you throw it. It also depends at which angle your character is looking as well.

BDB is right. in HL if you hold down the fire button while you have a grenade for too long right when you release it, the grenade will explode throwing your various body parts all over the level. :o

Hmmm... I guess you're right. Maybe I'm thinking of some other game. Wasn't there another game that did exactly this?

Jedi Knight.

Grenades in general Cyberpunk RGP are 1. aerodynamic 2. non-aerodynamic, think about that! Aerodynamic could shape like fribee Non-aerodynamic grenades physical shapes is more like canister, go and try throw 1/2 beer can more than 5-25 meters and then try throw a frisbee, it's quite easy to throw frisbee more then 30 meters, and we have to remember Deus Ex is CP world.
I also like strengh idea, but can be also difficult to determined strengh level when you throw if you haven't newer thrown a grenade. I hope that one of the Cybertech item could be mathcomputer or BattleTac, to make PC life easier or worst it.
Both cybertech items could be found in ShadowRun 1st edition Shadowtech book.
