I would say....just RUN!!

It's not as difficult as you may think, really.
Just take your bow, then get closer to the snake until it starts approaching you. Now aim a tiny bit in front of the snake as it is approaching and shoot your arrow. One hit - one kill.

Just finished this campaign. . .I had a horrid time killing the snakes too. I did end up just saving often, and running past them - and reloading if I ran into one unseen. lol
Great mission, though. VERY nice to look at and it was a lot of fun. The only real 'complaint', would be that both the crabs and snakes had odd 'hit zones' to them. IE, it didn't seem like they were close enough to me to start hitting me, yet I was dead before I realized they even attacked. :P
Otherwise it was great. I didn't even mind the missing blackjack, when I had a belaying pin. lol very in the spirit of things. Sailor Garrett. :D It was nice to have the 'good deeds' scattered amonst all the stealing, and dealing out justice too. :)

Ummm... I feel silly, but I can't find the blackjack in mission 2. :o It seems to be well hidden. :p :erg:
The missions are fun-tastic, though - I loved the sharks and the pirhannas, the beaches (including the pub in the settlement), the rope bridge above the river canyon... Definitely cool scenery ! :D

I think i had the same problem. I probably ghosted it first, but realised BJ is nowhere to be found and it was a main objective. Turned out it was in the ship at the very beginning. That felt really stupid. Well, atleast i think it was there.
And yeah, i agree on the beautiful scenery. The rope bridge above the piranhas river was one of the things i memorized best.
Also, the Ghost ship in mission 3 was really great and the whole mission 4 was a joy to play through.
Though each mission got shorter and shorter at least by my playtime. I still enjoyed all of them equally, perhaps the longer ones even less. xD
Hmm, Christine's site seems to be telling of an upcomming campaign for quite a while. I wonder when is it going to be ready, if ready. :p

Ah, so I was right after all. Can you remember, where exactly ? I remember the
cutlass being stored in the corner of the captain's cabin. Where was the blackjack replacement then ?
Thor on 5/6/2009 at 16:49
i think inside the ship as one of the things that were candidants for a replaced blackjack. There were a lot of them, but only 1 was frobbable. I hated it. I remember checking them at first, but apparently not good enough.

Yeah, I tried that too, but no big succes. I'll give it one more go and see what happens. :)

I think it was a screwdriver-like object at the bottom of the ship's belly, on the same deck where the starting point is, or maybe one deck up. To find it, I had to crouch and examine the objects on the ground closely. I think it was near a hammock (a sailor's bed). And if I remember it correctly, the animated title graphics, the one with the doors opening and closing, showed a rolling object on the ground that looks like the blackjack replacement.
Anyway, the replacement was somewhere in the ship's hold. You can grab it before entering the captain's cabin or the island, or even stepping onto the main deck.
Keep in mind, though, that the blackjack replacement on the first mission varied (according to what one can read in this thread somewhere) with difficulty level, thus if you don't play on easiest difficulty level, you may not find the blackjack replacement where I found it. It might even look different.

Erm... Shouldn't you and Thor02 add a few spoiler tags ? :erg:
But anyway... Thanks. :thumb:
And yes, I know the replacements in the first mission vary according to difficulty - I'm playing on Lubber, so I wasn't interested in finding the rest... yet...
