Keep in mind eric that the Darkmod is all fan levels. There is no "official" mission set (except for the Training Mission). It is just a tool to make Thief-based missions for the Doom 3 engine. I'd try some fan missions for T1/2 first or concurrently.
Keep the reviews coming for the T2X + T3 levels though. It's an awesome read! :D

Yeah, I know its not supposed to be good, but Steam has it for $32.99...and then I found a steam key on eBay for $14.00; plus I read some reviews, and some of the negatives didn't like it for being like Dishonored (which I like) & others for being good but not worth the $$...which was obviated by this price.
Definitely wait for it to go on a sale. It was something like $10 on Steam just a couple months ago.

You know I was going to stop writing here...its getting to be like my personal blog...the sound of one hand clapping...but then again...
T2X
The great:
The fact that it exists
The cut scenes
the art in the cut scenes
some of the specific changes in the objects are definitely for the better...the keys in locks sequences
the arrow, the hammer, the sword...
The coherent story
The choice of a girl for the lead...not to mention her tattoo-inspired make-up
The neither great nor not great:
its easier (at least the levels I played)
combat is easier
The not great:
1st level is a weak start
Speaking of which:-
Mission 1: Unexpected Shelter
boring...I know, who am I to complain, but really weak...I DID like the visual of that movable bridge of light you needed to cross
Mission 2: The Trials That Shape Us
pretty cool; easy; but endless interesting touches in the museum, they put a lot of work into the small nice touches
not as good as T1 or the best of T2...but I didn't expect it to be
Reminded me of a true-ism of PC gaming...when you get lost, go to sleep...when you wake up the next morning, more often then not you figure out where to go.
Mission 3: While The City Sleeps
although easier than T1 or T2, it was in the mold of a classic Thief level design
LOVE the rooftop/balcony traveling...
Very enjoyable thus far, although a little on the 'light' side...maybe I'm spoiled.

Well, I'm also playing it for the first time. I'm at the Bonehoard, and how many missions are more exploration than "stealth?" I've heard that the game has some missions that sort of aren't exactly stealth, and that's what this mission feels like so far.

I Think we're playing different games.
I looked, as I was curious how many levels in the T2X game...and didn't see one called "At THE BONEHOARD"
There IS a level called "DOWN IN THE BONEHOARD" in the ORIGINAL Thief...is that what you're playing?

Yeah, I'm talking about Thief Gold. I haven't finished Thief 2 yet either, so no T2X.

There are are two-three more that are sort of like Bonehoard. Most missions are more confined (don't have as many big open areas) and more stealthy.

What do people think of The Mage Towers? Since it's one of the Gold missions, would say I definitely could have done without it. Repetitive mission structure, repetitive exteriors, boring "platforming," and those damn loud floors. Don't really regret using 44 knockouts to get through it.

I enjoy The Mage Towers, but it's not the very best. Maybe it'll come in 6th or 7th in TG.
Off the top of my head my Thief Gold list would be:
1. Sword
2. Cragscleft
3. Return
4. Caverns
5. Bonehoard
6. Escape
7. Mage Towers
8. Guild
9. Haunted
10. Bafford
11. Lost City
12. Assassins
13.Maw
14. Undercover
15. Bedfellows
Some surprises there I know, especially assassins which I don't care for that much. Don't get me wrong, even strange bedfellows would've come in 6th-7th place on a T2 list. That says something about the quality of the rest of these missions.

I got to the opera house, and 1. The game seems kind of bugged. When I'm in total darkness, enemies in this mission will ignore me even when they're literally bumping into me 2. I'm not sure how to deal with this many loud floors. Am I really supposed to crouch-sneak all the way through this place? Obviously I can't cover the entire ground in moss.
