Day9= Final
Done-finished.
Very good game....very, very good.
To quote Mary Poppins...'Practically Perfect in every way'
The length was perfect.
the difficulty-challenge was perfect
the animations were great
the story was great.
Just a fantastic experience all around...although, played just once each, of the four played, Thief The Metal Age is my favorite (the 4 being Thief Gold, Thief The Metal Age, T2X, & now Thief Deadly Shadows.
for now, whither goest I?
Well...I'll likely take a brake for a week...got some other games that 'need' my attention put-off for this one
(the concept of 'need' is one my wife, as if an alien to this world, does not comprehend!)
But I suspect I'll try the first 2 levels of Circle of Stone & Shadow
From there...if completely enthralled, I might try some fan mission levels that are 9-10 stars.
After I get the 'old school' thirst assuaged, I will probably go to Thief IV...it appears at least SOME people like it!
I will eventually replay Thief(s) I,II, III in order...and avail myself of whatever are the latest versions of the fan enhancements when I get there.
Although I will (I didn't this time) use the Fan-GOLD version for Thief III, I gotta say, I LIKED the level transitions....and am skeptical making the game 'one-world' will be an improvement; but as many seem to like that concept, I will try it that way next time

Glad you enjoyed the games, I've really enjoy following your progress through them here. And also glad to hear you might start playing some FMs after a break. I can't even begin to describe the talent of the authors here and their works! There are FMs that surpass the OMs in every way. Don't get me wrong, I love the OMs:thumb: Since you really enjoyed TDS I recommend playing "Thief's Rising" for T3. Wonderful 8 mission campaign, some of it takes place in "the city" of TDS. There are many threads and posts listing best/must play missions to check out.

Just out of curiosity: What´s your favourite OM?

Which bees my favorite?
This is a tough call...unlike Thief The metal Age where levels varied between over-the-top great game levels of all time (read: Life Of The Party) to frankly boring (read Trace the Courier, Trail of Blood) I find in Thief Deadly Shadows there was pretty much an equal level of "Well Done, Laddies!" to it.
I also remember the Days, more than the specific sub-levels in it (think Hexen, and its hubs)
From that framework I would say my favorites were Day 2-Day Two: Into the Pagan Sanctuary and Day 5: The clockwork & everything leading up to it.
My favorite gaming 'moment' would be the suicide jump at the end of Cradle, which was I think, a unique game ending.
My favorite days were prejudiced to wanting the day to be long-and-hard, even to close to an extreme degree, but not needing a walkthrough to solve, just repeated trial and error.
I do admit, that being said, to cheating to enter the Clockworks, in that I had to read that one needed the climbing gloves (spent about an hour trying to find the non-existent ‘other’ way)…and there SHOULD have been another way, perhaps solvable with Garrett saying ‘That would have been easier with Climbing gloves!” once ‘in’, so a player could have the thrill of solving a puzzle, but be reminded there is/was a deeper puzzle of getting climbing gloves, and I had spent my monies ahead of time, & was nowhere close to the monies needed, and didn't have any saves before the days start, and even there had almost no $.
So 2 minor complaints to the game design:-
1. There should have been some warning one needed to conserve money...perhaps it was in a document I forgot reading, but I resorted to an online save to restart it with more monies.
2. I also thought it kind of stupid that Stoneharbor plaza & Stoneharbor proper had such similar names; that led to needless confusion that for me did nothing to enhance the game. If that sounds intolerant…well I’m in great company! Reading Winston Churchill’s classic 7 volume History of WW II he complains testily Iran & Iraq have needlessly similar names that will only cause confusion, and that their original names of Persia and Mesopotamia were better.
Now that I think about it, I loved the day you 1st work with the Keepers Library...which might have been day 4?
See what I mean..?..Its really hard to pick a standout here, as so many were so close to equally good!
