Fine, fine! Nevermind about the no-CD thing!
So, install to hard-drive, patch, edit darkint.cfg, copy installation folder (C://Thief2 or whatever) to flash drive. Then, on another computer, run Thief2.exe from the flash drive, and it will ask for CD, pop in CD? It's really that simple?
Vigil on 13/4/2007 at 16:40
Well, if you call that "simple", sure.

Well, I say that because it's already installed--though I don't know if patched. What version does the patch bring it to?

Well, heres my theory : Ok, you dont really need to install Thief II on the thumbdrive, per se, all you need to do is copy your Thief II folder on your comp over to the little bugger, edit the DARKINST.CFG file appropriately, and *crack* it so you don't need to carry the CD around with you (need to be as inconspicuous as possible). Then all that needs to be done is pop the lil bugger into the computer you wanna play it on and...well...play it. :thumb: Sounds like it would work fine, no? :cheeky:

There's no-CD cracks. And no, we're not going to link you to them.
You would be better off installing it to the hard drive first, then patching it, then cracking it and editing the darkinst.cfg, then finally copying it to the thumbdrive. It will be faster and less wear and tear on your thumbdrive.

Wasn't he being sarcastic?

Of course he was, I was pointing out to RH that Vigil had already said exactly what he did.

Oh.

My Thief II folder is well over 1 GB, so that's out. Thief Gold, though, is less than 300MB. Can I do the same for Thief Gold?
