Ok, confession, there were 2 reloads:
1. Just to hear a conversation that I missed the first time.
2. I jumped on something that was uneven, and it did not let me continue walking. Instead, I slowly slipped off the edge on to my death. I still can't really justify this reload, but hey I wasn't killed by a guard or monster.
Some comments on playing this way. One, it makes the game more immersive than the "make a mistake and reload" method. You are much more worried about being discovered. You have to weigh the reward of stealing something over the risk of getting killed. As an example, I chose not to explore the "off limits" portion of the Keeper's library, because just being discovered ends your game, and the risk was too high. I also found the statues to be quite scary, and were about the only thing that really threated to kill me on a few occasions. I also went through plenty of flash bombs, as I had to use them when I was discovered, instead of reloading. Good thing I had plenty of cash.
I failed my first attempts to play this way. The one I remember was in the Pagan area (Jackgnall's Paw), I got trapped by one of the tree beasts, and he wouldn't go away. Nothing I tried worked, and he eventually killed me.
Anyway, I thought I would share this play style on this board.

That would be "Iron Man" style. I play this way quite often but I still quicksave a lot. Too often in T1 or T2 you can get stuck to a wall or struck with "sudden heart attack syndrome" and I hate having a game ruined by that.

Interestingly enough, I didn't have to do that at all in T3 (although I did quick save anyway). There was one time in the Kurshok Citadel that I was stuck in a corner (falling), and couldn't do anything. I thought I was going to have to reload for sure, but in the end I was able to get out of that without reloading. Ironically, a minute later was when I fell off an uneven surface and died.

"sudden heart attack syndrome"?? What you mean?
@ Fian: for the treebeast, just run away, it will not able to hit you if you run :P Then search some high where to climb and get rid of that one.

Don't you hate it when the search function is broken?

Just crouch and you're in God Mode for statues and Kurshoks.

Same tactics, saving a lot, but no reloading. In T3 you can easily get stuck in any crack in the floor. An elevator in Moira's Mansion is a good example.

Run away? Now why didn't I think of that? I was just standing in place trying to kill everything if I was discovered. :erg:
