I don't want to tell either of you how to work out your issues, but have you tried giving each other a blow job?

The problem is not sports.
The problem is advertisements.
Forbid advertisements, and a lot of problems will go away.
What would society miss out on, if advertisements were forbidden ? Nothing.
Advertisements for alcohol, cigarettes and a bunch of other things are forbidden. Why can't we forbid advertisements at all ?
I've read or heard that most big companies reserve 10% of their total budget for marketing and advertisement. That basically means everybody pays a 10% extra tax on everything. Money that then goes into the pockets of whomever is best friends with the purple pants people. And the common consumer gets nothing in return. Waste of money.

I don't disagree with the overall sentiment.

I just ordered a sandwich from my local Domino's. The guy on the line happily took my order, said it'd be ready in 15 minutes, and to come pick it up anytime after.
12 minutes pass, and I get a call back from Domino's. They rang me to inform me of the fact they don't make sandwiches at that particular location.
...so why the fuck did they take my order? I used to work at Domino's back in the day. You can't just take whatever someone says over the phone. You have to ring up each specific item in the computer before you can close it all out and send it to prep. What the hell is going on? I just wanted a damn hot sandwich! I'm so hungry!

Well they do provide revenue for whoever is displaying them. Just imagine how many websites wouldn't be able to go on, or would have to start charging it's members for access the site, without ads.

henke is spot on, as annoying and culturally crippling as they may be, without advertising we wouldnt have any free stuff like tv and internet.

Right, let's get this off to a good start.
Calling it football* to begin with, like the rest of the World, is a good start.
:D
You may fire all your torpedoes or ignore this, I am already gone. Ta-ta!
*Don't care about it anyhow. Carry on.

There's nothing essentially wrong with sports. Even sports being quite popular.
Professional sports however are something else entirely. The madness and money associated with them is something to behold.
Actually even supposedly amateur leagues appear to have hijacked US education to the point where few high schools and colleges can do without it. And to the point where the teams can be lined with rapists and criminals and run by child molesters but the thing people seem to be worried about most is the ability to cover the spread next season if these people go down.
The school, nay the town, needs its terrible people in order to have any self respect, see.
The cart is well and truly before the horse.
