I'll see what the PS4 has to offer, though I'm tempted to get a PS1 and PS2 just for completionist sake.

Did anyone else here play Mark Of Kri?

When I borrowed my cousin's PS2 a few years ago that was one of the games I enjoyed the most on it. Great combat system, a functional stealth system, and gorgeous character animations (courtesy of some ex-Disney animators). I also really liked Ico, GT4 and The Getaway:Black Monday. Tried MGS3, Viewtiful Joe, and Killer7, and found out they weren't really my thing. And for some reason I put myself through the entirety of the awful NOLF port. :p

Err, you mean PS3 was limited on BC, right? Do all PS2s have PS1 BC?
Actually all PS2's can play PS1 games. They used a PS1 as their hardware sound card.!

You may not need to get a PS1 since PS2 and PS3 (and PSP and PSV) can play PS1 games with ease, but definitely get a PS2. I repeat -- best system since the SNES.

Though the ps1 is pretty kickass in it's own right. Especially in the rpg and survival horror departments.

NOLF's campaign on the PS2 had missions that weren't on the PC. That's always pissed me off.

Dude, Half Life was on PS2, and it allowed me to use my USB KB/Mouse to play! It was awesome back then...
My girlfriend and I used to own a record shop, and around when Vice City shipped, I decided to start selling used games. I got a massive toothache and stayed home one day, and I woke up to a shiny-new PS2 that night. She bought a sealed unit (had to be stolen) from some dude that came in for $40. Snagged Vice City, GTA3, Gran Turismo (she knew I loved the first 2) and Silent Hill 2. I didn't work for a week. I had seen the future. This thing was the SHIT. I had to turn my gaming rig into the work server, so I hadn't gamed on PC in over 2 years.
I had a PS1 and a Dreamcast, but this was no joke. The library just pumped out title after title month fter month. I bet I bought 15 games a month, and ended up with over 300 PS2 games. The PS3 is kinda meh. It really seems to suffer from lazy cross-platform ports and limited exclusives. I love the design, interface, controller, and network though. I am rooting for PS4, and plan to get one once they get through a hardware revision. I went through 5 PS2s (I bet I put 10, 000 hours on them though), and I ain't buying 5 PS4s. Actually, I bought 4 of them used, so it isn't all their fault. I won't buy another used console again.

Oooooh yeah. That was it. That was the reason I put myself through it. Those bonus missions were pretty small though. About 5 minutes long each iirc. You didn't miss much.

My last console was a N64, up to 2001 (in Japan of all places), so I missed out on consoling after that. I did play Ico & SotC on a PS2 emulator though ... because I knew I had to at least play those games (others too; but those were the standouts). The emulation was wonky sometimes, but I could take screenshots & record my play too, and I could still use a controller & big screen tv, so it balanced out maybe. Those games were definitely special though, and I wasn't ignorant that a lot of the magic was probably in the PS2 itself...
I guess I could say, of the consoles I just know by emulation, the top two or three would be the Genesis and PS1/PS2. N64 is still the historical console I feel most personally connected to though, like C64 is for computers. (Super Nintendo gets props for regular Mario Racing with friends back in the day.)

I hated everything about the N64. Everything. Yeah, it had a few standout titles, but Nintendo LOVES re-releases for their older games, so stuff like Ocarina gets made on a better console. God, that controller was a nightmare, and they are fragile as hell. I liked that they had the ability to add VRAM, but dunno how well they actually utilized its implementation.
