dimee, your question is not newbie, so it will be better to start a new thread for it. I hope someone who knows 3D-MAX would give you a detailed answer. For now I think, you should check, is your MAX configured to T3Ed properly. Here's a tutorial about it - (

Hey T3Ed people! Got a newbie question for you.
How the hell do I import .obj files into Max 5.1? It doesn't support the file type natively, and every plugin I've tried fails to initialize. Any suggestions?

Renzatic, I failed to find a link for downloading a plugin for now, sorry, but you can trick your MAX 5-1. Import OBJ-model into 3DS MAX 2009 (this function is built-in already, so no plugins are needed here), save it as 3DS-file, then open it in MAX 5-1.
ADDED LATER:Ups! I think, I was wrong. 3DS MAX v5-1 has this function too:

Hi guys and gals...I have been toying with the editor, trying to make sense of it through the eyes of an old man. Following the tutorials and making copious notes I have come to the part of "ambient Sounds"...I understand zone portals and how to create them and adding the sound property to a rooms zone...now when i press the "..." in the property and the schema sound editor panel opens, I know where the ambients are within the structure and I try to play the ones that I'm interested in there is NO SOUND, so I am at the moment blindly choosing a ambient, putting it in the level, going into game mode to hear it, not liking it and coming out and entering the schema sound editor to change it and going through the whole rigmarole again....
Is there something wrong with my editor or am I missing something technical.
Thanks.

I have the same problem that most schemas won't play in the schema browser (a few do so, though). That's why I use the DX:IW Sound Drone to find out things beforehand. (

Hi, I've been playing around with T3Ed and have generally been able to make things work following Komag's excellent tutorial. However, I've been stumped on the issue of creating a working ladder.
Garrett will approach the ladder and freeze up for a few seconds and not climb up it. I followed the suggestion in the tutorial to move the ladder closer or further away from the wall but this didn't help. I tried playing the start of the Rutherford Castle OM and got up the ladder fine so it must be something I did wrong. I also tried separating adjacent ladder blocks by 1 unit (as seems to have been done in the OM) but this didn't help either.
Here's a link of a test UNR file so you can see a few examples of the dysfunctional ladders for yourself (hopefully posting this doesn't violate any forum policy):

Thanks for any help!
