Please help...please. ;_; - by CelineT

I know there's a frequently asked question section, and I've frequently been there, but nothing's helping.
I've read through different errors with the game, and so far, I don't know how to fix it. Pretty much this is what's happening:
I managed to install Thief Gold onto the computer, and I can get past the menu, but when I start playing, it'll sometimes freeze and the audio will continue, but I won't be able to play. I have to then open that Task Manager and quit out. I know this is your run-of-the-mill problem, but I tried opening that Run program, and then tried dedicating that Affinity thing, but it said the path couldn't be found. I'm so tired of trying and reading FAQs that can't get me help... I need a solution.
The furthest I've managed to get is drawing back the string of your bow to hit a target. I wish I knew the specs of the computer, but I don't. I'm sorry. Maybe it's to do with the processors. Please help me. Clearly I'm getting totally desperate now. ;_;

Check your Email. I also suggest you activate your PM for these forums. Look in your profile and make sure you have the Private Messages enabled.

I really don't understand what I'm supposed to do with these files. I've extracted them, but... I'm so confused. This is horrible.
What is a Hex Editor? God damn, I wish somebody was actually here to help me. :S

if you had only a small peek at the readme, you would know that all you have to do is use ddfixGUI.exe to patch your game.let me quote it for you:
Quote:
Extract ddfixGUI.exe, ddfixGUI.dll, ddfix.dll and ddfix.ini to the same directory as thief2.exe. Run ddfixGUI.exe, click 'apply patch' and choose the resolution you want.
On windows vista, the GUI must be started with admin rights to avoid issues when trying to patch thief2.exe.
alternatively, you can just download a pre-patched exe to avoid the process completely, from the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) very same thread I have already linked before.
edit: I'll just link everything you need directly:
(
http://www.saleck.net/Downloads/Thief-TheDarkProjectGold/DDFix-Thief1.zip) pre-patched tg exe
(
http://jermi.dyndns.org/~jermi/ddfix/ddfix_1.5.11.zip) latest version of ddfix
extract both archives to your thief folder, overwrite if required, and with a bit of luck, you will be able to play right away.note: set your desired resolution by editing cam.cfg (notepad should do) and modifying the
game_screen_size line (widescreen resolutions are supported).

I think the problem with those instructions is the inclusion of 'thief2.exe'. If you're not particularly computer savvy, you might think it didn't apply to TG.

that's why I linked the pre-patched stuff in my last post-extracting 2 archives is as easy as it can get.no chance of getting confused about something here.
and while the readme might be a bit confusing, the thread says clearly
Quote:
To install, simply extract into your Dark Engine game's main folder and run DDFixGUI.exe.
so its really just a question of paying a bit of attention.

Well, of course, you're right but I remember scratching my head for a very long time before I installed DDFix into T2. Unknown terminology can be quite daunting. Once you've done something, it's easy. But before you do it . . .
Back then, I was so thick I didn't realise for a while what my Dark Engine was. :D
