Occasionally I'll toss a crate up onto a wall, or ledge, so it's as close to flush with the edge as possible, or with a slight overhang. Then I'll fire a rope arrow into the facing side, near the top of it, and climb up.
I've done the same thing many times & it works! Of course, there have been a few times where my PC seized up 'cuz I was trying to get somewhere I wasn't supposed to go.
I also try to hide as many bodies in the smallest room I can find just to see how many I can get in there.

I love when you get a bonus objective for doing things like putting someone back in their bed or leaving something (notes, objects) just to be nice or helpful!
I was basically going to post this, but I'll take it one step further -
After the fan mission
A Love Story III that I replayed recently (in this fan mission there are a ton of "deliver item to this location" objectives which I enjoy) I began to notice that almost every person in the mission had a bedroom with a bed that you knew was theirs - specifically shop keepers.
After doing all these nicer objectives I started to get a taste for it and began - of all things - bonking folks on the head, carrying them up ladders and delivering them to their bed.. subconsciously perhaps I had become a gentleman thief and wanted them to wake up thinking they were just napping, not being robbed blind. :laff:

In the Assassination mission, I only knock out one person: Ramirez. And I dump his unconscious body in the far back of his Burrick den. And I leave his two Burricks' (whom he obviously loves more than his servants) corpses next to him.
I figure that's really got to hammer the point home that it was a really, really dumb idea to attempt to assassinate Garrett. Get robbed blind, get knocked out, wake up in burrick poop, realize your precious babies are dead next to you, and then find out not a single servant saw a darn thing.
Another thing I always do is close every door behind me. Always. Always always. 180 degree turn, click, and spin back around and keep going. I never leave a door open. I don't like coming into a room with a surprise guest that I didn't hear enter, and I don't like sound travelling outside the rooms I visit. So I keep those doors shut.
Another thing I do is duck a lot when sneaking around. I probably am ducking 70% of the time when I am moving around. Even when I am pretty sure it's not necessary to lessen the sounds of my footsteps, I still duck. This is why I was most disappointed with Thief 3, since ducking makes you practically 100% silent on any surface.

I enjoy taking the people I've KO'd and tossing them into fires.

I use the lean keys to look in every single barrel in a mission and I break every crate. You never know when there might be goodies hidden inside.
:laff: Thats slightly better than me. Though I do look in barrels too (not every one though) I DO look in every single 'toilet' hole. Why? Well same thing. You never know when there might be something good inside. And every so often there is. . .just often enough to keep me looking. Probably about as often as there's stuff in crates and barrels.

A New Year's resolution I might not fail at. I'm going to remember that this can be done. Somehow I always forget.

Now I always take people out of fires if they should accidentally be standing in the wrong place. And like Petike the Taffer, I also put guards on sofas or beds so it will look as if they've fallen asleep on the job.

Whenever I start a new game, I always take a shot at the guards in front of Bafford's before running around back to break in. It's funny to hear them shout at me and start chasing me, but they have no chance to catch me when I hop like a rabbit. I always hop down long hallways, even if no one is pursuing me. I could beat those haunts in a race!

The moment I start on a new mission, I immediately hit escape to save, so I don't have to go through the tedium of choosing difficulty, passing the objectives screen, buying equipment etc. in case I die before my first "serious" save. I always try to make this first save while the timer is still set at 00:00:00 and I never save another game over it.

I save every two minutes. :o
