A 3rd for the mechanists to come back!!!
I want them all back, but I do feel it's better if the game centers around 1 or 2 factions and the others get only minor roles. I would like to see those other factions in DLC.
I would also have voted for Mages and Necromancers/Undead. I hope the get delved into.
I think that the 4th game should be mainly about the mechanists coming back, the 5th game should feature an invasion from mysterious foreigners and the 6th (hold on to your horses) should see Garrett go back in time to ultimatly write the Keeper's prophecies. When I was playing DrK's last Rocksbourg FM I thought the mystery behind the Soul's research on time would be a great place to go in a new trilogy.

I'm really surprised the Mechanists have so few votes. More confused than surprised I suppose.

The mechanists were the only faction I didn't vote for*.
A lot of people here never really liked them ... it seems to be closely correlated with how much you liked the undead in T1, and whether you played T1 or T2 first.
* while I voted for the keepers, I don't actually think they should come back as a faction, but rather I would like the game to explore the fate of once powerfull keepers who are now left without their powers.

Well I for one hope that the Mechanists (and their robotic creations) return in a future thief game.
I enjoy the fun and danger of sneaking around the ever-so-deadly combat bots and the challenge of watchers.

I am amazed how few votes there are for them. I guess TDP fans want fantasy and TMA fans want steampunk, maybe TDS fans want Lovecraft.
There are so many characters mentioned in TMA we never get to meet, and being a cult they could make a perfect return.
I always just assumed Thief was steampunk, outside of T2 however there's hardly any technology...

I voted for the Mechs and I did play TDP first, I actually found them quite fascinating. I'd really like to see them return as a remnant of supporters, not as a driving force for the plot. I've always wanted to see a good Mech vs. Hammer street fight and think that T4 would be perfect for it.

I always preferred the style of the Hammerite technology to the Mechanist technology. The Mechanist stuff was too modern somehow, not enough roughness and rust.

I'm not even that bothered about their tech, it's mainly the way they go about their buisness, their obsessions and religion, they interest me mostly with who they are rather than what they are, if that makes sense. Maybe T1 gave similiar opinions about pagans and hammerites.
