God! I can't believe I actually checked 'Zombies'. But a few here and there (and NOT in every frackin' mission, mind you) would be tolerable. Only just.
I think my 'don't include' list would be longer than my 'please include' list in this thread.
I especially would not want to see any of the TDS nasties included in T4.
I could (and can) handle spiders, frogbeasts, and burricks, but anything flying at you that can do damage to your health I find frustrating. (I usually end up flailing around with my sword trying to kill them and feeling like an idiot because Garrett's reflexes are not those of Lara.)
But the spooky creatures could be kept to a minimum imo, thankyouverymuch.

well if I can't actually have all of them then I'd at least like the capability of all of them in the SDK along with the ability to create actual mechanical linkages between objects in game so you can create machine like pistons driven by a waterwheel

Well, now you have nothing to use your holy water Gatling gun on.:p

All, plus what clearing said, minus statues and puppets since they were very specific to the Cradle and Gamall, respectively.
+1 to that.
It's perfectly possible to introduce or re-introduce even more nonhuman AIs. Leftover Builder's Children (as long as they've got fuel), for instance. Fire shadows. Other types of undead.
But we don't need all of them as mobs, of course. Still, it'd be nice to see them referenced and nodded to. Like the CobraBeast trophy, for instance, or the frumious bandersnatch. They could be mentioned in dialogue, writing, or other artwork, if not included as AIs or even meshes.

* Hammer Haunts - what's a Thief game without some Haunts?
* Zombies - there should definitely be some undead in Thief 4, but they should be done differently than in Thief 1.
* Apparitions - do you mean like Brother Murus and Laurel? If so, then yes.
* Ghosts - see above.
* Skeletons - what is this, Castlevania? Will Garrett get to whip up on some skeletal butt?
* Statues - if some statues came to life in Theif 4, that would be scary and fun.
* Swimming creatures (Fish, eels, etc) - this is Thief, not Pitfall Harry. I don't want to be playing with Garrett and have to worry about eels biting me.
* Flying creatures (Bats, birds, Gargoyles) - this is Thief, not Castlevania. I don't want to be playing as Garrett and have to worry about bats and birds swooping down to bite/scratch me.

They don't have to attack you. They would act as fillers to the environment to add... realism?

But since this thread is entitled "non-human AI', I think that it implies that you as Garrett would interact with them, most likely in battle, hence the non-playables would need AI to react to your input as the player.
But yes, the environments should be as engaging as possible, and that would include animals, weather, sounds, etc.

Apparitions are the ghostly AI that talk at high speed backwards, and throw skulls, hence separate listings for apparitions and ghosts (Brother murus, Laurel, etc).

I'm gonna have to go with spiders, whether in system shock 2 or thief series, spiders just creep me out. Hammer Haunts are a given too.

I voted yes for zombies and flying and swimming creatures. At one condition though, that zombies can be killed/destroyed in some way and the flying/swimming creatures are not aggressive. :erm:
