Apart from picking fancy phrases from your pinboard, what tangible contribution to this thread could you actually make? It's not like throwing in Romans in a discussion about a roughly medieval context is the embodiment of expedient argument. At least not expedient enough to justify such an insult. From my personal point of view, judging from your last posts in these discussions, your opinion is heavily spoiled by computer realities which you try to back up (if you're in the proper mood to say more than a snide remark) with randomly chosen bits of high school knowledge, superficial and isolated as they are.

The Roman Empire didn't have half of its inhabitants walking around with longer swords.
Never mind that the legionary heavily relied on his
large shield when using the gladius, which allowed him to get into striking distance with an opponent unharmed.
Maybe Garrett should have one of these, too? He could put it in his other pocket.

Yeah but you probably won't be able to convice people who are resistant to knowledge. I guess they're already on the stop-talking-about-shields-Garrett-is-no-warrior way.

Yeah, but damn, three ages have already passed, Garrett being primarily a master thief had more than enough time to forget some useless skills he had been taught during childhood xd
It's like riding a bike. :) Plus it's never been stated how long those "ages" were. Thief 1 probably took a few months, there was an unspecified break in between, Thief 2 took maybe a month or a little more, there was another unspecified break in between* and TDS took a little over a week.
*The unspecified break between Thief 2 and TDS was probably very short because Garrett became interested in the prophecies in the end of T2, and somehow was still enthusiastic about them in the start of TDS. He had better things to do, but he agreed to do 2 dangerous and non-profitable jobs for the keepers to gain access to the prophecies. I think that if the break would've been longer he would've just forgot about the whole deal and focused on his job.
All in all it looks like it's been less than 10 years since he first left the keeper order. And he's probably been keeping himself in shape, and practicing regularly.
"keeping himself in shape" was not a pun.

TDP/Gold and TMA were definitely over a month. Seasons changed, and two weeks were specified as passing from Casing to Masks alone.

Considering first thing Garrett does when he gets proper money is buy lockpicks, a tool every Thief would probably want to buy ASAP, I always thought you end up in Bafford's weeks, maybe month-two after ditching Keepers - just enough time to move in and make some fencer connections.
And what proof is there that the seasons changed during TDP? Streets in The City look the same during Bafford's as they do during Strange Bedfellows, after which I presume Garrett wastes no time loitering for months before stopping a god from destroying The City.

There is snow in the last cutscene.
But still, fencing isn't a thing you can practise reasonably with only another hooded guy in the sewers. I mean, of course you can some way or another but... Archery has IMHO much more Garrett-like solitary feel to it.

He had Basso for lockpicking (met him and his skills somewhere, and he was worth breaking out, and further helped him break Jenivere out, and gave up two gold rings for him, so something was worthwhile before possible sex with Basso's sister became his suspicious motive for all he's done for him); he had his Lucky Hand of Glory and let Issyt the beggar borrow it; and then he had his fence Cutty who was good enough to break out to get money for the sceptre, that he either couldn't get as much for through someone else to make the breakout worthwhile, or Cutty was worth more than that alone, especially after stiffing him at least once before; and then he knew who Felix was and was familiar with Adolpho's reputation; and Ramirez had demanded three times over some period, or after three jobs Ramirez heard he'd done, that Garrett give him a cut of his earnings; and the Thieves' Guild knew him and would recognize him by sight...
The money he made from the Horn of Quintus was quite substantial, and considering the Mystic's Heart is the highest known value he ever got from a single item, and the Horn is what allowed him to finally get lockpicks (a whole roll up kit, actually, but not surprisingly simplified in-mission), I'd say we are seeing Garrett finally getting big jobs that he couldn't before, and needing to learn how to pick locks, which he's gotten better at with each sequel.
From Cragscleft with sunny blue skies, green trees, and water running heavily off the mountains, and with snow only seen in the Maw in-mission, to snow falling and piling on the ground in the final cutscene, seasons seem to be changing.
There are many things between mission endings and mission beginnings that require time to pass, as well as the use of trees according to season, and where there's a moon, there're the phases, including a lunar eclipse.
I'd say Bafford's is in the Spring, the grass is greening up, but somewhat yellow, his ledger has the dates 3/24/34, 4/3/34, 4/10/34. Thieves' Guild has the dates 3/34, 4/34, 5/34. I'd say Undercover is in Autumn, the ground is covered with golden leaves, the large leafed plants are yellowed, and coincidentally, the morning glory blossoms on the wall behind the Keystone Tree are perfect for September.
