To some extent, its just some vagary of my individual mind. I found it a lot easier to accept the cool, high tech gimmicks.
Also, they didn't really change the aesthetic that much aside from the "old aperture" areas. and by adding vines at the beginning Oddly enough, those bugged me quite a bit less and I'm not sure why. Once you get to the main areas, the only way that the aesthetic of the facility was substantially changed was by adding the "infinite abyss" effect. This carries over to gameplay in that the threat of a (

The new DLC sounds good. It's great that Valve's the same as usual, giving out a lot of free content on the PC platform. The update is 763.4MB.

Also, FREE DLC just released! Peer Review is the first DLC for Portal 2, the year's most brain-bending action-adventure game. Featuring a devious new co-op track that continues the story of Atlas, P-Body and GLaDOS, the DLC also includes both single and multiplayer challenge modes, plus leaderboards so you can compare your portal placement and time scores with the Portal community.

New Co op maps are good fun. Some noodle twisters in there. I'm on the last one, just had a look, seems suitably nuts.

The next DLC pack is scheduled for early 2011 and ships with a map editor (Don't we already have a P2 SDK? Maybe it's for the PS3 version.). Good stuff with your continual support of the modding community, Valve. Such a shame that the Portal mods are few and far in-between and are more often than not imbalanced pieces of shit that are ridiculously hard for the sake of being hard.

Portal 2 DLC brings map editor to all
Second downloadable expansion coming 'early next year'
The developer has confirmed that the 'major update' will feature "an easy-to-use in-game map editor that will let users design, build and share their own single-player and co-op test chambers with the community".
Other players will be able to download, play and rate for creations all via a simple in-game system and that, kids, means an unlimited stream of Portal action for as long as you have the cake to keep on testing.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Bear in mind that games like Oblivion were built exclusively like that.
Seems like a good idea to let more casual editors try their hand at making simple levels. It seems especially suitable for something like Portal with its test chamber theme.

Unless, you know, you want to do something else than same room over and over and over again.
