Yeah not too keen on the Children's BBC presenter doing the camera voice. Trying too hard to come off as cute and funny. Maybe it will be if you're the sort of American who lols at teh funny english accent...

yeah, sidekick is seriously un-funny and bad. but everything else (gel !) is looking superb. I hope they do not trade valve-"subtle" with ice-age-abnoxious comic relief situations that look pretty out of place in the portal universe.

Given that it's Erik Wolpaw doing the writing once again, I highly doubt it.

Ack!
That demo is spoilertastic!! Saw the first bit and NO!!
No thanks, I'll wait. The journey of discovery in a game like Portal is too important.

I hope the cockney accent camera dies a gruesome death at the end of the training level.

How come a tiny white spherical camera is somehow advanced enough to have a completely human sounding voice, but a massive, all-powerful artificial intelligence can only do Microsoft Sam? Here's hoping they'll be applying some voice modulation to it before release.

First, that's not just a camera, it's an AI core. Second, GLaDOS's voice isn't synthesized, it's delivered by a human actress and then heavily processed. On this forum of all places, everyone should know that insane AIs must have screwed-up voices.

Fair enough...

I know that, I meant "in-universe", there seems to be no reason that GLADOS (not Valve or their actors) would stick to an electronic synth voice if realistic human voices are possible.

So the little dude is to Xerxes as GLADOS is to SHODAN perhaps? His voice won't go screwy cos he's still sane? Let's hope he gets quickly assimilated by GLADOS then...

Except it wouldn't have quite the vague sense of inhumanity if it were a completely human voice.
Why is this a problem again?
