Actually let me be more clear- the next Valve product I buy will be Half-Life 2 Episode 3.

I'll play Ep3 or HL3 or Half-Life:What's In The Box or whatever it ends up being, but Portal and TF2 are still the meat and potatoes of the Orange Box for me.

Yeah well until they give me what I want- a new Half-Life game- they're not seeing a dime out of me.

Well I can certainly get on the Episode 3 love business but I'm still down so fucking hard for release day with Portal 2 because the original rocked the shit hardcore and let's think about the economy for once

I totally agree that Portal was awesome and a total bargain for its price even at its short length - but a big part of what made it work was its original mechanics. Now that the portal is out of the box (there's a broken metaphor) they're going to have to work extra-hard to keep things fresh. I feel confident that it will be artistically awesome and have good writing and all that, but will the gameplay be more than a series of new challenge rooms?
p.s. Awesome co-op modes make me sad because I have no one to play them with.
p.p.s. Hey Stitch maybe you can help me with that;)

The simplest way to spruce up the gameplay would be to add what was missing in Portal in comparison to the earlier Narbacular Drop: the ability to create portals through portals.

You know, I just started playing Ep. 2 @ a neighbor's house and I am just not having much fun. I dunno. Same with Ep. 1. I LOVED Half Life 2, but these episodes are just rather boring to me. I would rather they released a full-blown sequel as opposed to dicking around with these episodic releases.
Maybe Ep. 2 will improve. I am not giving up on it yet.

Same here, no love for the episodes. And IMO Ep2 won't improve, it'll just get annoying.
I'm still interested in Episode Forever 3 though.

man what
you guys don't know what you're talking about
The Episodes were an improvement on HL2 in nearly every way. Okay, granted, the antlion caves suck, but both games are essentially condensations of everything awesome about HL2 while getting rid of the shitty parts.

I'd agree with this on Episode 1, which I thought was better than HL2 by leaps and bounds.
I played through Episode 2 and there were enjoyable bits, but it definitely did feel pretty tired. I just feel like the whole concept and feel of the games, which really hasn't changed since 2004, has run its course.
