I didn't mean for it to come off as angry. I was just making a point about Valve violently ramming things down your throat. I am always curious about the fanfare surrounding certain things so I gave it a whirl. I had high hopes for Portal, as it wasn't a run-and-gun game, but it just left me feeling empty. Maybe the sequel will offer something more than a two-hour corridor with a cool gun and some :downs: puzzles. We can only hope!

valve always tries so hard not to come off as blatantly boring and still fail. having said that I enjoyed Portal very much since it seems (for me) to be the first game where Valve excelled with their gameplay/work ethics free of the restraints of FPS or HL-fans. they did not do anyhting remotely more interesting than Portal since HL1 imo. sad, but true. L4D is a rough draft, L4D2 a fan mod for a rough draft developed for console, fixing what should have been there in the first place and HL2 was too long and too "been there, done that", no physics gun can change that. They are masters of creating iconic characters/situations for their games but the games themselves don't get anywhere - see TF2. they replaced innovation and balls with mediocre rehashes, 3rd party studio acquisitions (l4d) and sticking to the same formula now for 4 games (hl1,2,ep1,ep2). wait, even portal was by someone else. I'll wait for ep3 to have more fuel for my comments, I'm sure it will be ...... just like hl2. And just like Halo doesn't loose its drooling fanboys, Valve will not either nor are they ALLOWED to deliver something different.
Me, I will watch their games as well since they still deliver higher quality than many other FPS devs out there. We have a good masscompatible "always-ok-to-buy" company there. Not so common in the games industry and that will get them my money for portal2, even as a preorder. I have more the feeling that I vote for competence when buying Valve than getting a real good game.

Actually, in all honesty, if Ep. 3 doesn't have me driving a dune buggied up Charger through a portal in the middle of an Antarctic ice storm at some point , I probably will feel a little let down.
